I am a Vietnam-era vet.
We are way over-represented among the homeless today 20% of Gulf war and Iraqi war vets are estimated to have PTSD. Fewer than half are receiving treatment. A cousin of mine is one from the Gulf-era - a nurse, she was. An emotional invalid today, receiving disability and little treatment from the VA. I suggest we don't give them a day. I suggest we give them a chance at a life with dignity and happiness. Full treatment for as long as necessary at whatever price necessary. Decent housing, education benefits, job training and jobs to go along with the treatment They need more than a day |

Aw Duck, thank YOU, now that brought tears to my eyes! Your post too Ron, that is a very sad situation.
Thanks to you, that should be, and others like you, Ron, and Mike, and Heather, and everyone one else reading this who served in the military, whatever country. ![]() And also men like you Craig who are out there protecting us at home, every day. Thanks to all of you! And to the veterans, those gone and those are stll with us, who fought for both of our countries in the World Wars, in Korea, in Vietnam.... and for those who are fighting today in Afghanistan and in Iraq too. Peace soon be with all of them, and us.

Happy 233rd birthday Marine Corps!
Thanks to my Chief Petty Officer Dad and the U.S. Navy for giving us a wonderful life to grow up in....thanks to Linda's Major Dad and the U.S. Army for helping to bring Linda to me.....thanks to my "military" Mom who could make so much with so little to keep her family of 5 kids always feeling like we were rich. May their good spirits and self-less attitudes always carry on in each of us. Thanks to the Air Force for giving me the training that became my career in telecommunications and thanks to all you veterans, some who sacrificed in small ways and yet served well none the less..... and others who gave the greatest sacrifice.....all so that each of us could have the possibility of a better life.... Perhaps this will be the decade when ordinary citizens are finally called upon to give more of ourselves to help others just as our veterans have done in the greatest traditions of military service...I only hope we might measure up to the good service of veterans I have known throughout my life. And to your son's, Mike! They obviously make you, and us, very proud! And to you and the great tradition of noble military service.
