Sandos playacar riviera
Hi, I have a question. Is the Sandos Playacar Riviera hotel and spa and Sandos Playacar Beach resort the same place? I am booked at Sandos Playacar Beach resort and I requested a room in The Riviera section. I am booking a trip for my cousin and Expedia is giving me a good price on Sandos Playacar Riviera Hotel. Are they the same, if I book it will we be in the same hotel??
Thanks |

Same hotel, different sections. Regardless of which area you're booked in, you can use the facilities of either section. However, I don't think if you book into a standard room in the original section (Sandos Playacar Beach), you can request and be given a jr. suite (their standard room category) in the new section (Sandos Playacar Riviera). There's usually a price difference for one. Not saying it can't happen, just not something I would expect to happen. One should book the section they really prefer to be in since there is no way to guarantee any changes.

No, different lobbies....I think so anyway!
I'm sure someone who has been there will chime in on this one. Usually when a resort has two different sections, they have two lobbies. *edit* Yes, two different lobbies. Last edited by Shammy; 12-01-2008 at 06:23 PM.. |

Beautiful new lobby section. We were there when they were just starting to accept people in the new section. (I liked the 'old' beach section much better) Here are some pictures.

Shammy is right. The lobby for the Riviera is right on the main loop road through Playacar, while the Beach Resort Lobby is more centrally located in the Sandos Property. Here's a link to a google map. http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=2...04807&t=h&z=18 The Riviera lobby isn't actually shown on this map but the foundation work had already begun and you'll see the outline of what will be the Riviera where the hotel abuts the road. |

hi all...been to sandos 4x and probably can ans most of ur quests...the riviera lobby is where EVERYONE cks in then a golf cart will take u and ur luggage to the haciendas or the playacar sec...playacar (on the beach) has their own lobby where u can make ur a la carte reservations, any excursions u want to take (they will show u a dvd of ea place of interest), and the royal room if u have that upgrade...most of the nitetime stuff for kids and adults happens at the playacar sec...the playacar pool has the entertainment staff doing things w/the kids...the riviera sec is the newest part w/the nicest rooms...there is a swim-up bar there too...everyone can go back and forth to both---a 5-7 min walk fr riviera to beach or the golf cart can take u, they r always available...buffets and a la cartes at both ...i prefer the beach so i stay at playacar/ocean viewgreat spa (by playacar) w/jacuzzi pool, sauna etc and workout room...spinning classes too(see times posted by pool)...only chg will be for salon services or massages all the rest is part of the AI...
24 hr room service available! hope that helped...any quests just ask...jamm

jamm,
I am assuming (correctly, I hope) that if I have issues w/ the room after check in that the other reception can help (staying in the beach section), or would I have to trek up to the Riviera section in that instance?

hey cyber...just ask for martina (the concierge manager/supervisor and person that can REALLY help u) - sometimes she is at the playacar sec...when u ck in ask for a room (s) w a pool/part ocean view in the 1000 bldg (2000 bldg is fine too but u run the chance of overlooking the pool and the roof of the buffet)...
go to the sandos website and sign up and print out the sandos4u vip card...sometimes u get xtras...i'm sending u a PM w/more info

hi btodd...if u r staying at the riviera sec there r carts that run all the time to get u back and forth to the beach (playacar sec) and it's only a 5-7 min walk so i wouldn't be concerned about which bldg but my advice to u would be to get a pool view on an uper fl if poss...they also have jungle views (the woods to me LOL) and it's more private if u prefer that...i personally would go for pool view- that's mho...

Hellooooooo
My wife and I along with our 13 yr old and 8 yr old are heading to Sandos mid Feb 2009, is there any information that can help make our trip better. Example - when you are getting ready to leave for home how do you go about getting the transport back to Cancum Airport etc, we are all very excited to be going and this is our first trip like this.
