Cancun - 11/28 - 12/2 - JW Marriott
"The Queen" has requested a report...so I will do my best to grant her one.
Photobucket is being a nuisance today. ![]() I last visited Cancun in 1996, with two of my girlfriends, to celebrate my birthday. I knew that 13 years and one husband later - it would certainly be a much different type of vacation. And it was. But it was still wonderful. Joe and I had some Marriott points and airline vouchers to use. Originally, we were going to try St. Kitts but with not-so-great reviews of the hotel and travel time - we decided to head back to Mexico. (Joe has never been to Cancun.) We left home at about 6:00 a.m. on Friday morning to head to JFK airport. No traffic - no problems - caught the airtrain from long term parking and we were there in plenty of time. Had breakfast, got some magazines, and it was time to board. The plane didn't leave on time...can't remember why. And the flight, for reasons I really can't fully explain, was long and hellish. Did I mention LONG? We arrived in Cancun at around 2:45 p.m. - got a red light (it wasn't so bad) and met our driver outside. We were at the hotel less than 1/2 hour later. ![]() Check-in was a breeze. Since we were there on points, we decided to upgrade to their Caribbean Suite. I was beyond happy with it. Entrance to 1141: ![]() 1/2 bath off entrance: ![]() ![]() ![]() Either my computer, Photobucket, or both - are running way too slow right now. Will reboot and retry soon.

Back to the fabulous room (I hope)...
These doors led from the living room in to the bedroom. Loved them. ![]() Part of the master bath. Big tub, double vanity, separate toilet ![]() And a double shower-head....whoooopwhoooop!!!! ![]() The only picture I really got of the bedroom was of turn down service. Housekeeping at the hotel was fantastic. Everything was spotless and turn down service was always fun ![]() More cuteness by housekeeping:

The room had double balconies. One from the living room and one from the bedroom. Here's the view:
![]() The weather was incredible and we were able to sleep with the doors open every night and fall asleep listening to the ocean. Anyway...back to Day 1 - after we unpacked, we decided to grab a couple of Corona from the gift shop downstairs and go exploring. Path leading out from lobby to pool: ![]() Making our way from the pool area down to the beach: ![]() I know I look like I'm freezing - but the water was REALLY warm and I was REALLY happy to be there: ![]() Very nice guy on the beach offered to take a picture: ![]() We headed next door to Casa Magna to check it out. Sat outside and had another Corona and had to take one last picture: ![]() Went back to the JW, had another couple (dozen) drinks, grabbed a bite to eat, and decided to call it a night. |

We did not have AI, but found the pricing to be not so bad at all. The dinner we had at Gustino's at the hotel was fantastic - so much food and wine - and the cost was more than fair for what we received. We've really enjoyed the Marriott's we've stayed at. Aruba (a couple of times), Curacao, NYC - and now Cancun. |

On Saturday morning, I had coffee delivered up early in the morning and sat on the balcony and enjoyed everything...the coffee, the smells and sounds of the ocean, the view. It was a perfect morning. Woke Joe up and we went down for breakfast. Simply Seafood has a breakfast buffet every morning from 7-11:30ish, I believe. Everything was fresh, the fruit was delicious, and there was plenty of options for everyone. I loved the ceiling in there...
![]() After breakfast, we took a walk to check out the hotel. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We went to grab a map and then walked down to catch the bus. Shopping and lunch to follow. |
