Picture trip report from Fuerteventura/ Canary Islands
Hey all,
guess this will be a first for me, never did a trip report on the forum. But figured as the Canaries are something most from the US don't know I'll put some pics up day by day while I am here. Keep in mind I am no Andiline, Manitou or Thor- so my pics will just be average. Will get started in a few mins- just waiting for the pics to upload. |

So- to get started: here is a map showing where I am right now. On the island of Fuerteventura, off the coast of Africa.
![]() The Canaries basically rose out of the ocean via volcanic activity- which you can still see when approaching via air. ![]() Nice shot of Lanzarote, a neighboring island, from above. ![]() Approaching Fuerteventura. ![]() Note in the pic above that much of the sand you see there actually has blown over from the African deserts. Also note as a reference that the line running along the coast is a normal sized street........which gives you an impression of the size of the sand patch. Former volcano on Fuerte. ![]() The eagle has landed- at an airport right next to the ocean.

Ready for my vacation to start.
![]() Where there are tourists there is green. ![]() But the island actually looks like in these following pics- some parts look like the surface of the moon, all of it is barren land. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And then finally the ocean again.

Entering Jandia- El Faro, a landmark here.
![]() View from my balcony. ![]() Restaurant on the beach- note that this is a normal sized house, which gives an idea of how huge the beach here is. ![]() I just liked the look of this. ![]() Old core of Moro Jable. ![]() Foooooood!!! First garlic shrimps, then fresh fish with tons of garlic. I will make no new friends tonight.......... ![]() ![]() Yes- I am wearing a jacket and a scarf. It does get chilly here at night...... ![]() View from the restaurant. ![]() Well- that is day one. If I see that folks like this and follow I'll upload more in the coming two weeks.........have to admit it takes ages to upload from here, the connection is slow. |

Awwww- even though my pics aren't all that you want more (and I would never make you beg, Manitou) - so I'll begin uploading the pics of the day today in a minute (which means, with the connection here, it will take a moment).
There will be some interesting ones today!! Stay tuned. |

The weather was quite stormy today- so the best option was for a trip in the car.
Chosen destination was the "Villa Winter" a very mysterious place laden with conspiracy theories........of course involving a strange German, Mr. Winter. The ride to it was an adventure of its own as you will see. But to that later. Starting off in Jandia ![]() Via Moro Jable ![]() Leaving town- and civilization as we know it. ![]() At first there is an asphalt road going through the usual surreal landscape.
