A Christmas Message
Dear Friends of The Peanut Pet Shelter
As we come to the close of 2008, we look forward to an even better, stronger 2009. Since January 1st of this year we have adopted over 120 dogs and pups to new, loving homes. At present we have 71 dogs in our care, so the work goes on! Sadly there were a few along the way that didn't make it despite our best efforts. Unfortunately, along with sickness, injuries and disease comes generations of in-breeding and malnutrition. This year we continued our fight with Hookworm and Erlichyosis. Many of you are aware of our horrendous tick infestation - fortunately under control now, but in this climate, we will never be completely rid of the little beasts! This year too, Laura has found homes for a huge amount of small, vulnerable kittens and her very successful feral cat spay and neuter program continues to grow. Many thanks to Kelly for her valuable help with this and of course the wonderful vets who give up their time to provide this service at no cost. It our plan to develop a cat section at the Shelter for a small amount of adult cats who due to difficult circumstances can no longer be kept in their current homes. It saddens us that to date we have been unable to offer any help for adult cats. With so many dogs in our care, we simply have not had the facility to do this despite the huge demand. Our fund-raising events this year have been a great success and a huge amount of fun. Please note, our bazaars are every second Sunday at Coffee Cafe on Av 5 with Calle 34. Please email us for more details. Our regular Saturday dog wash afternoons afternoons have have been well attended all year. We have met so many great new people. Dog wash afternoons help socialize the dogs and also give us the opportunity to socialize with friends, old and new as well! Our 2009 calendar will be on sale soon. Unfortunately it was held up due to the bad weather we experienced in October. Hopefully it will provide as much entertainment as last year's! Our thanks go out to the Walkabout Group in England for taking us on as a 'cause'. We are so grateful! We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our wonderful friends and supporters a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Your generous spirits never cease to astound us. Your kindness has saved and healed so many! THANK YOU! Andy & Jen Please enjoy this little slide show of guests past and present ![]() http://w158.photobucket.com/pbwidget...c/a8a11d8a.pbw . ![]()

Andy and Jen- words can not convey the magnitude of what you are doing and what you are pouring into it. So I won't even try.
The memories of the afternoons at the shelter are some of my best of my last stay- and when I return I'll surely be back. Wishing you a happy holiday season and a great 2009!!
