I'm sure your're right. I jsut don't have anyone that I feel comfortable leaving them with. The last sitter (not that she would do it again), didn't really work out for me.

I told him I see many separate vaccations in our future because of the dogs. He really wants to spend the week of Christmas in New Hamshire next year...and I would only do it if we could take the dogs with us.

Find a good kennel or a dog sitter you are comfortable with and leave them home, you can enjoy your vacation without them! I personally would NOT put my dogs on a plane unless I absolutely had to! Agreed. Good advice.

As far as Mexico is concerned it also depends on the breed. As far as going down, sure come on down with your furry friends but if the dog is considered a "dangerous or agressive" breed then they will not allow you to transport the dog out of Mexico. Not sure what they qualify as dangerous or aggresive but I have heard tales of peeps having to leave their loved ones behind, sad as that sounds.

Not to mention the poop and pee issue. Depending on where you're staying you'll be in a big city walking the dog and dodging cars and bikes and people trying to find a patch of grass. That would get old fast.

Some of us don't like crying screaming kids either, but they make it on the plan.

Hardly comparable.

Well I know that realistically and I was just kidding, but my dogs are my kids, and I know not everyone feels that way about their pets.

It was just a question people....I am not about to jump on a plane with my two small Pomerainians to take them for a walk on the beach.

At this point we just aren't able to take a vacation together because there is no one to take care of them and I'm fine with that.

That is unfortunate. We have two cats, who we thoroughly enjoy. They're wonderful company, keep us amused, and very good about letting us live in their house. But, they are after all, just animals, and we don't let them tie us down. Mind you, cats are much more low maintenance than dogs. The neighbour drops in a couple of times a day whenever we're away for a few days to feed them and have a visit, and we have a house/cat sitter that moves into our place when we'll be away for anything over a week or longer. She's been coming here for years.

I'd rather sit next to someone with a dog than next to some of the kids I've been tortured by!

Thank goodness I have a great pet sitter for Bailey - she has a doggie farm like no other - complete with webcam! It's expensive but he's happy and safe so......

Boy, can I ever relate to that. I'm a monster magnet, and if there's a kid anywhere on the plane, they're pretty much guaranteed to be right in my neighbourhood. Okay...okay...okay...so it's the Christmas season, and I understand every obnoxious urchin on the planet if flying somewhere to spend the holidays with grandma. So last week's flights were pretty much certain to be an ordeal. I was not surprised. On one flight we had Beelzebub in the row in front of us, and three of Satan's spawn in the row behind us. All in glorious full volume. What a great argument for retroactive birth control.

I don't know if Jet Blue flies out of DFW (or whatever city your near) not but I received a email from Jet Blue saying they had some type of program starting up where pets could fly with their owners ... Something to look into... Chris aka Beach

Finding a good place to board your pets is invaluable........Jan and I were so lucky to find Camp Bow Wow years ago.....the dogs love it there and go crazy every time we make the drive. It truly is a doggie vacation for them. It took a lot of tries to find a good dog sitter but it worked out great. There are really posh boarding kennels popping up.....some even have swimming pools for the dogs. They're not cheap but whatcha gonna do.

I could not agree more!!! I have been using the same kennel for 11 years! I trust this place and the peole that run run it completely, hell, the dogs even spent hurricane Ike there! I know when I leave them there when I am on a trip I do not have to worry, about anything!! Get online, open the phone book, call around to places, visit them! I am confident you WILL find a place!
