Okay, let's get this over with...
In all honesty, the fireworks were pretty lame, compared to others I've seen. No ooooh. No ahhhhh. Had they been in the sky, they might have been better, but most of them barely reached the middle floors of the hotel. Here are a few shots. ![]() ![]() ![]() We took off before they were done to make our way back to Treasure Island. They had the doors blocked to anyone not holding a room key, but our hand stamp was good enough to get us in. And once we got there... we really didn't know what to do with ourselves. No more gambling. We'd had our fill of drunks out in the street. Had no interest in going back to the nightclub just to stand around some more. So Skip decided he wanted dessert and we stepped into the cafe just in time before a looooong line formed. We ordered some hot apple pie and ice cream that we didn't really want and couldn't finish. ![]() And felt like this afterward: ![]() So... I had yet to finish packing the things I'd purchased that day before my 6:30am flight and by now it was after 1am. We went back to the hotel room and got things loaded up and weighed (I had to leave behind sauerkraut, canned pumpkin, chocolate soy milk, and some cornmeal for Curtis as I was at or over my weight limit - thank goodness Delta still allows 2 - 50lb bags on Mexico flights!) Finally got it all bagged, boxed, and taped up and there was 45 min left before we had to leave to drop off my rental car and then me at the airport. I shut my eyes and maybe got 30 min sleep. ![]() I had changed into something ridiculously comfortable that I would never consider wearing on an airplane if I wasn't going to be sleeping on it but at that point I didn't care and just wanted to go home and sleep, however that happened. Just one more picture from my flight home. I had to chuckle when I saw this in the airplane lavatory. I just hope the wings weren't held on in the same fashion. ![]() So... I'll be visiting Skip and Vegas again sometime in the future, but I've been there, done that on the NYE on the Strip thing and I don't need to do it again. Overall, though, it was fun, and I'm glad to be able to say I've done it. Thanks Skip, Eileen, Eddie, and the other friendly folks of Vegas (they really were, mostly!) for a great trip! |

[quote=Susie Q Roo;1268160]Nope, I haven't made it there, and I hadn't heard of it either. Do you recommend it for next time?
It's an Old West town with gunfights and live shows. They also have a pretty good steakhouse and bar there. Its a nice place to get away from the crowds. I used to work there as a cowboy/stuntman back in the day. It was a great job. I just want to tell you, Susie, that you can (often) find sauerkraut, chocolate soy milk, and canned pumpkin here. I've seen the sauerkraut and pumpkin most often at Pacsadeli and the choc. soy milk at both Wal-mart and DAC.

Susie-
#1 - you are such a babe in that NYE outfit ![]() #2 - I've always wanted to go the LV for NYE, but I think reading your TR is enough. I don't do well with masses of humanity. Thanks for sharing. Hope 2009 is a better year for you. |

Susie - What fun to say you spent NYE in Vegas. It looks like a great time. Vegas is very close to the top of places I've never been - but would really like to go. I'm glad you enjoyed.
BTW - You look BEAUTIFUL! Hugs, Lori |
