Ladies... What's Your Annual Clothing Expenditure?
I'm just curious how much people spend on clothes per year. I'm gonna go out on a limb and estimate maybe only $1000-1200 for me, even though that seems like WAY too much, considering that I'm down here and shop only a couple times a year and then just bargains. But with shoes and all added into it, maybe not. Anyone else have any idea how much they spend?

$400 Million dollars!
![]() Ok maybe that's an exageration. I ordered a part for my car and she asked me if that "thing" was going to nickle and dime us to death...I responded "not as much as your closet!" she was quiet after that!

Not nearly as much as some of my friends!
![]() I added it up and including footwear I would hazard a guesstimate at around $3500 on average a year, including purses and shoes/boots. About. ![]() It would be a lot more but I don't have to dress up for work and have a separate work wardrobe, luckily. What kills me is my purse addiction, mostly. (okay to be honest I didn't include jewelry either.) Also remember I have to buy cold weather, hot weather/vacation wear, and everything-in-between weather....I have about 30 coats/jackets.

I guessing Kathy does not spend over $1000 a year.
I know I don't. We tend to shop at the Eddie Bauer outlet store and the like. She was appalled at the amount of money we spent on her two new bathing suits for our December trip. She picked them out, I didn't let her know how much they cost, but she saw the invoice when the package arrived. |

About $1000 including everything from winter coats to bikinis.
When I do work out of the home it is in a firm and I see clients so it goes up a little (suits = blarg). This spring I am going to start working from home part time so I will only be going into the office a few days a month ![]() I belong to a "Clothing Club" here in my home city where 13 ladies get together for 13 months and we each pitch in $40 per month. Each month 1 of us wins the $520 pot (can only win once per session) then we spend the FULL amount on ourselves for clothing, piercings, tattoos, hair and waxing. The "winner" hosts the next months party where she shows off her purchases over wine and a theme (we get really creative with our themes and have a blast!!). |

They must be big up here. I am in TWO of them now (12 in one, 10 in the other, we take the summer off). We pitch in $20 only though and put $5 in the pot for a year end party. We are having pleasure party this month for our January one for one of them. ![]() Any excuse to get together and drink! I didn't think I spent that much on clothing.

umm, a couple hundred dollars, maybe
This year was a bit more because I had to buy a few "nice" clothes for teaching and I'm gonna need a new coat at some point (I'm being stubborn on this one, I loved my old coat), but I'd go with about $200. If that. I hate shopping

![]() I usually shop the bargains, but after receiving some gift money for Xmas I went to Nordstrom's and splurged on some Seven jeans...then to the Coach outlet and splurged on a new purse...that blew the under $1,000 budget for the year!! |

I have no idea....but this year was more than normal because I had to buy some new shoes for work, I needed a few new swimsuites and vacation close and I started noticing that in every picture of me for the last 10 years I'm in the same few favorite outfits or tops.
I hate to shop so I don't unless I really have to. I'm going to guess $1000 in 2008 and that is probably a VERY high guess. ETA - revised my estimate to $1000. Last edited by TXMichelle; 01-06-2009 at 07:45 PM.. |

I love to shop, but haven't done much lately... some online... maybe 3 or 4 times a year at the mall... just can't seem to get the timing right with the very few friends of mine who actually like clothes shopping... I have coffee buddies and dinner buddies, but shopping buddies not so much...
![]() I'd say probably $800 or so for the year... and most of that was online I wouldn't mind it being higher... who wants to go shopping with me??

I don't even ever want to add it up. Yikes Susie.....My Lulu Hoodys are $110 a piece.....eekers. I spent about $1200 easy on clothes my last Vegas trip. I have a bit of a problem...mostly I buy on sale though. mostly.
Edit-I shop at Winners alot which is like your TJ Maxx I think....Brand name at lower prices. See I am not so bad. Really I am not. I should get a job. Last edited by Tommygurl; 01-06-2009 at 07:52 PM.. |
