I tried a few place 4 weeks ago, I did read Jimonthe river trip report. The best place I found was a bar called 'Living Bar' not 100% sure on the name but it is right in front of the Tucan Hotel. I like them on the rocks so you need to make that clear or you will frozen.
2nd Play Maya, they went good with the tacos. I tried La Hora, not good, Ajua had good one & Beer Bucket okay. |

I second La Tarraya. It has the best Margarita I have ever had in Playa. Nice and tart with just a touch of sweet and what seems to be a good balance of tequila. Most places put way to much sugar surup or something in theirs that it tastes processed and way to sweet. La Tarraya has a nice balance of lime and other goodies. A super size (grande) is only 40 pesos (less than $4) which makes it even better.
