Rooms At The Royal

We are going to the RPDC this weekend and we are going to be in the Jr. Royal rooms and was wondering if someone could help us with a good room. I'm having some Knee problems and was looking for a room on the bottom floor. Is that possible? I want to do the early check in but because I have not been I have no ideal what to ask for. Is their a place to get room #?
I have really injoyed this site and all the info I have got. You all are great and thanks ahead of time..... We are so excited about going and the last trip report I looked at was great....

Having an exact room number won't do much good. When you log in to do your online check in, you will SEE what rooms are available for you to select. You won't be able to pick and choose any room from among all in your booked category, you'll be able to pick and choose what rooms the systems says are available, and sometimes that's not many. During the online check in, you'll pull up a 3-D map of the resort so you'll clearly be able to tell what floor the available rooms are on, the bedding type, smoking or non, whether the room faces the pool or gardens, etc. BTW - the hotel has elevators so even if your room is not on the bottom floor, you won't have to do the stairs.

Thank you

Thanks that is good to know about the elevators. I only have problems going up. It won't really matter what floor in that case. We are not ones to spend much time in our room. I'm so excited about spending time at the Royal and putting all the things I've learned on here to use....... I think I know where all the bars are so I will have one for you!!

Elevators

IIRC, there are also elevators in the two 4-story wings immediately adjacent to the lobby (ie, above Spice & Maria Marie's).

Yes there are other elevators on the property, I was trying to point out the elevators closest to the majority of the rooms..So if no 1st floor rooms are available, pick a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor's closest to the ocean and near the elevators....
It's a little tricky navagiating the resort in that it takes a little getting used to....Maybe in my case it was tequila numb mind syndrome..

I think I'm going to try to get a room in the Tulum area. 169 is the end close to the water but looks a long way away. If I keep messing my knee up I won't be doing much. I just keep twisting it. I tried to go in to see what was open but I have to wait till tomorrow at 12:00. Thanks again for all your help. If I'm wrong in the room I'm looking at please let me know.....

Room 169 is one of the rooms farthest away from the ocean, you may be misreading the map..Also it is not rated as a Royal jr OV, just a jr suite...

If you want to be by the pool and activity, rooms 187 thru 199 would be the choice...That is just for and instance...
reference this map..

We are in just a Jr. Suite. That is why we are so far from the beach. I could be reading it wrong also. We are not in A Royal Jr.

We stayed in Rm 268 on our first trip to the Royal in 2006. A bit of a walk to the beach, but very handy for the restaurants, etc.
One thing to note if you're staying on the ground floor: during the daytime, the subtle tinting on the balcony door provides reasonably good privacy - at night, however, be sure to keep the drapes closed

If you're not in a Royal jr. suite ocean view room category or higher, you can't do the online check in and pre-select your room - so forget the info I posted above, it doesn't apply to the standard jr. suite category.

You can actually check in online, but you won't be able to pick your room - the hotel will assign you to a room the night before arrival and you'll find out which one when you check in.

If you have Google Earth, punch in the following location, this pretty much pinpoints your room location and show's a sat view of the resort..

20 37'46.20" N
87 04'03.37" W

We are at the Royal right now, and on a ground floor room, #626. The other couple we are with is in #624. This is the building to the north side of the property, and the beach is very close. Restaurants are a ways, but the walkways are very easy to walk on. The room also has a king bed, which is very nice.
