Well put Bumper I remember being put on the chopping block many many times for questions asked and spelling mistakes, which I still make. We all need to think twice before we answer someones question.

Thank you Bumper, I have to say that everyone has been really nice to me. At least I thought so. I know I have asked dumb questions and you are correct, it is a desire to be part of the crowd and this is a really good crowd. I have never been on a forum before, but when I was lurking around I had so much fun reading and laughing that I wanted to join in. You feel kind of stupid at first but overall everyone has been welcoming. I have to say that having no friends on your list is kind of a bummer but someday maybe I can prove myself with the senior crowd. I really like you guys and it is really fun to get all pumped up for what you anticipate to be a really great trip, y'all have helped me with that!

Thanks Bumper. That was very well said. I think I would fall into freshman even though I have been here a couple of years. I rarely post but spend a lot of work time reading!

What I have done is find the folks that inspire you and add them to your contact list so if you need to look for a post that you liked or thought funny you can find it a little easier. example I play on getting some Nerak beads before our trip but had a hard time remembering where so I've added her to my contact list so I can find her when I'm ready to order some.

As someone who would be accused of recently picking on newbies, here are my thoughts. As Bumper says, if we are not nice to them, they may never come back, and we don't want that. At the same time, if we answer every single question that is asked and don't encourage them to use the search function and explore a bit before asking any old question, we lower the quality of the board. Every repetitive question bumps another perhaps more valuable thread down the board and perhaps out of cursory eyesight.

Perhaps the following is a solution. Let's say hypothetically (or not) newbie asks a question regarding using dollars or pesos and there are already 2 other threads going on regarding that topic. We could just say, "Use pesos and get them at an ATM when you are in Mexico. By the way, not sure if you knew but we have an awesome search function (insert link to Babaloo's tutorial) where you can also get answers to questions like this if you choose. Welcome aboard!"

How's that?

JG

P.S. I believe we should still be allowed to be mean to newbies who tell our regulars that they are telling lies like mr water temperature dude.

Ok I think I am somehwere between a sophmore and junior. I think a lot of what some may take as mean is just bad sarcassim or just strong opinions on some threads. When I first started posting here it took a while to get used to some peoples style and realize that some have no clue how they come across at times.
As for myself if I have ever posted out of line or hurt anyones feelers I am truely sorry as it was not and never will be intentional.

You must be a Conservative. There's only about 5 of us around here.
We're still working on melliedee.

Oh, I'm usually not too far away or difficult to find. Usually hanging around annoying someone, someplace, in some sophomoric way.

Just be sure you don't ask me any stupid newbie questions when you order your beads. That really pisses off the monkeys and it makes it more difficult for me to get them out of the hot tub and back to work.

BTW.... the above was a joke. Probably not a very clever joke, but the best I could come up with at this time of night.
