I use the search function often and have also found some interesting results. Sometimes I will get a thread, where a link is provided to another thread, where a link is provided to another thread, where a ..... kwim. I'm not talking about the typical "hot button" topics but just general information. By the time I read the answer I was looking for it was from 2003 and I'm wondering if it is still relevant.... but I don't want to ask because I went through 12 posts to get to the answer, lol.

It also can take a lot of time to read through so many posts looking for an answer.... that doesn't bother me but some people don't have hours to find their answer.

Also.... some of the threads do go off topic, but usually the question has been answered by that point so it really shouldn't matter. If a question is asked and then asnswered by a few members then I don't think it is a big deal that it goes off topic. The answer is already there.... no need to have 2 dozen of the same answer when it has already been stated.

There's my useless dos pesos

A troll is someone who creates a new user name to say things they wouldn't say under their real name. They stir controversy and aren't looking for information, rather just want to be jerks.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

Interestingly enough, and a sign of the times, when you google the word troll the first hit you get is an internet troll as opposed to a historical under the bridge troll.

Here's the wikipedia definition:

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

Well said Bumper.

I'm a newbie here, maybe even a noobie, but have been a regular on other forums for years. Compared to some of the others that I have frequented, this forum is pretty tame and the regulars are much nicer about the "dumb" questions. You should see how soap and candle makers behave!

You feel kind of stupid at first but overall everyone has been welcoming. I have to say that having no friends on your list is kind of a bummer but someday maybe I can prove myself with the senior crowd. I really like you guys and it is really fun to get all pumped up for what you anticipate to be a really great trip, y'all have helped me with that!
There's a list???????????? I wanna be on the list too!!!

Bumper, thanks for a great read! I LOVE this forum...don't post all that often but would love to get to know all of you better. Good bunch o' eggs!
