Checked in to the Lifetime Fitness down here in Raleigh. Ran a nice tempo 5k, then did a cool down 20 minute swim.

Drinking a chocolate milk (my favorite recovery drink!) and eating a Turkey and Cheddar Lunchables from the gas station and going to sleep like a baby tonight.
Sweet! Good job working it in!

I'm hitting the sheets. Have a great night all!!

I'm a bit concerned that our 3rd board member didn't check in with a report of her run today.
I read it in a Men's Health a couple years ago, and I thought it was the best excuse ever to keep Hershey's Syrup in the fridge again, so I stuck with it.

Rumor has it that it's the top choice among pro cyclists as well!

As for the 3rd member, she said that her boss had a mid afternoon meeting planned for when she was planning on running, didn't she?!

Stupid work getting in the way of all of our amateur athletic dreams

Does that count for membership to the thread?!

It could be considered an aerobic activity in some cases, I would think...

Okay, 2010 is rapidly approaching. I did some thinking, and how about the below for post #1 of that thread (edits welcome). I left running only in the title as I think there is more passion/broad interest about that subject than other endurance sports, and because I'm biased...

Title: 2010 Running (and More!) Thread

Welcome to this happy thread! Due to the great fun we had with our 2009 thread, we are going to have a 2010 thread as well, but we expanded it a bit this year. In addition to running, feel free to discuss other endurance sports like cycling, triathlons, kayaking, etc.

So, post your goals, update us on your training progress, and post race reports. We'll be here to cheer you on!

Happy running/racing/whatever it is you do!

I think Brent needs a running challenge.

And for you chocolate milk drinkers.....why is it one of the best recovery drinks? Is it just the milk or the combo? Whole milk?

Accountability report:

I suck. I'll come up with a thousand reasons why my run was horrible. I was only out about 20 minutes. I was cold, irritable, and couldn't run much longer because I had to be on another conference call.

I don't know what has got my knickers in a bunch but I'm needing a serious kick in the booty. I went to my weight training class last night and was annoyed that I had to be there. My normal trainer wasn't there and I can't stand the woman who subbed for her. Then, during my clean and press, during the press movement I slammed the bar up into my nose! It hurt like hell. Then, I was hoping my nose would start bleeding so I could leave class. I was a total Debbie Downer.

I think I know what's wrong with me. It's the weather and getting out of my routine. Spending 11 days in Playa and coming back to the cold and snow has really got me down. I need to find the fire I had before I left. I think this weekend, I need to head out for a nice long run on the rails to trails. Empty my brain out...recenter myself. Then, I'll buy some running mags and sit in front of the fire and get psyched about the 2010 racing season.

Has anyone ever been in a workout funk before?

You will get focused again. Sounds like you have a plan to jolt yourself back.

Yes, my funk started with an ankle injury and a torn rotator cuff and a trip to Playa and then the rest of the year just being lazy. So, yeah....the only thing that got me going again was when I got tired of saying "I used to do this...and I used to do that." You already have goals for racing in 2010...so you are waaaaaaay ahead of the game. Chin up!! Today is a new day.

You're right! Today is a new day! Of course, there are 3 inches of snow on the ground but I'll focus on the positive! I'm one day closer to racing season!

Good girl.

My goal is to hopefully have enough mental steam and imagination to get through my run this morning. I think I will turn the tv on so I can have "some" visual along with my mp3 player cranked. I'm going clean house before I head down though. I'm still at that stage where I'm total toast after running. I felt almost dead to the world by 4 yesterday.

They say it's the perfect blend of proteins, carbs, and vitamins for your body to digest in a short period of time.

I think it just tastes the best
