Well, if you can't make it in to work, sounds like you have plenty of time for a walk/run at home.

Did a hilly 3.3 mile route. Probably -5 here in the northern burbs with a light wind. Slow pace as it was on trails and most of them were actually not plowed. My main battle was that I was running with my glasses on (I don't like to put my contacts in first thing in the AM), but then breathing through my facemask would fog up my glasses. So, I'd pull my facemask down and I was afraid that I'd get frostbite on my cheeks.

Then, I realized it didn't matter if I just took off my glasses, as despite my 20/500 vision (literally), I didn't need to see anything anyway. That was all fine until I put my glasses back on for the last few blocks when I got close to home and they were frozen and froze to the sweat on my face/eyebrows.

Fun run overall though, the temp didn't bug me at all. I just had on a light pair of running pants as my heavier pair are in my school locker - I'll need to get those home soon!

JG
I don't know how you do it!! Glasses frozen to your face and all!!!

I'm hoping to get into the gym this afternoon. I'm a morning runner so this should be interesting. I've logged 7.5 miles this week and have a goal to hit 16+ ............fuuuuuuuuuuuuudge.........I absolutely hate this building up to my old 25 to 30 a week thing. I feel a funk!! Helllllp!

C'mon, it will put hair on your chest. Not sure if you need more hair on your chest or not though. Of the folks on this thread, I've only seen PG's chest.

The only way I can increase mileage is to get signed up for a race. Not sure what strategies others use...

Oh no!! What is the temp there? Has to be cold if your car isn't starting.

Thinking on signing up for a race or on trying to get a more hairy chest?

I'm thinking that whether I'm walking, start trying to run or just going to the gym, I might need to start doing it in the morning. When it is cold and dark by the time I get home at 5:30, I feel like doing nothing but putting my pajamas on.

I don't have a problem getting up early. I get up early now, but it is to watch the news before work.

Now that you say that, I am the only one to bare it all so far......
I'm like JG: need an event to train for or I just run my comfortable 3 miles and call it a day.

MPR through the headphones. News while you exercise

I'm typically a morning person too. Makes your mornings much more energetic, and makes putting you sweats on after work to just relax feel so much better.

Okay, I'm off to sweat, groan, gripe and just generally be a bitch through my run. Later!

When I went to the bike store Monday to have a rim trued off my trainer bike. I found a mountain bike I really liked. I have two road bikes and have been thinking of getting a mountain bike to ride around town and a few dirt trails. Maybe do an off road triathlon. Nice Trek for $480. Then went to pick up my daughters car from having winter tires put on it. Her car needs $600 in front end work on it. This after putting $650 worth of tires on my wife's car two weeks ago, and $600 of work on it last week. Bikes going to have to wait till after we get back from Playa. It's a 2010 model so they'll be around for awhile. On the good side I ran 5 days last week and three so far this week.

http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes...4_series/4300/ The green one.

I'm with PG....news while you run. I SO couldn't muster the effort when it is cold, dark and around dinner time.

Good for you on running, David! Sorry about the delay on the bike purchase. It will be there when you can get it at a later date.

Got four miles in today. had to do .20 walk at 2 and 3 mile marker....but I did it. Glad it is over with and hoping for a more positive run tomorrow. We hit the grocery store and stocked up on healthy stuff to eat. Oh joy!
