Super short term goal: Get out of bed tomorrow when the alarm goes off at 4:45am and go to the gym.
![]() I did morning workouts for about a year and then stopped. Reading all your posts made me remember why I used to drag myself out of bed so early... |

I am BACK baby! I had an awesome weight training class last night. Squatted my heaviest weight to date -- 37.4 pounds (we use kg plates so I converted). Was able to do all the tricep pushups (usually I wimp out on a few) and did lunges with my heaviest weight ever too. Felt awesome and my legs feel good today!
Am going to try to swim tonight. Maybe another 30 minute non-stop session? That would be awesome! I'm going to try to do a run this weekend. I really can't get road runs in during the week. My work schedule is too hectic and by the time I get a chance to it's dark (no headlight or reflective gear). I dread the dreadmill but I guess I'm going to have to do it! |

Well. The alarm went off at 4:45am... I was warm and toasty... I started to get out of bed and then jumped right back in. Brr! I think I need to adjust the thermostat so the furnace starts to heat the house back up a little earlier if I'm going to make this work! I swear to god the carpet in my bedroom was frosty...

Accountability report:
Didn't do the sub-zero run yesterday. Sorry JG. The front of my calves and arches of my feet are actually pretty sore from my last dreadmill run the other day, so I thought I'd give them another day of rest before I messed up my gait waddling on the frozen sidewalks around here. I AM going for a mountain bike ride here in a few minutes though. 1 deg F. Not sure how far I'll get, as it's my first snow ride of the year, and my first ride in general on my new MTB frame, but I'm shooting for a nice cold 1 hour spin session. I'm going to bring a camera with me to take some pics, as I hope to make it to a local singletrack trail that is kept up by the local MTB group. If I don't make it there, I'll at least try to plow through some drifts on unshoveled sidewalks ![]() Report later... |

He completely took responsibility and said he never should have had me try my new pedals in those conditions. Now, I can't ride w/o them! Have fun! Looking forward to pictures! |

Good to read all these reports, very inspiring. Even Tyler's kayak report.
Normally I would do my long run tomorrow AM and report on that, but today is the last day of classes and some of us profs are hitting happy hour. And I think it is going to be a long happy hour followed by dinner followed by more college bars kind of night. So, I'm thinking my long run is coming on Sunday. |

Way to go to all of you who are mixing up their activities! You are inspiring me to add to my schedule....a start, anyway......I actually thought (for a minute) about doing some hanging knee raises.
It is a start.![]() U2: Fantastic on the squat weight!! ![]() K: 4:45??!!! ![]() I am at 15 1/2 miles for the week. I'm taking tomorrow off and will start back on Sunday. Have plans tonight so I'm thinking I'll want to sleep in and slug tomorrow. |

Si, 4:45am. 15 mins to eat a small preworkout breakfast, down some H20, and drive to the gym. Work out from 5am to 6am. Back home by 6:15. Half hour to get ready for work. Leave house by 6:50. Start work at 7:30am. It's a lil crazy. But it does work. I just have to get back in the habit. I've been a snooze button addict lately
... that'll be a tough habit to break.

Accountability Report #2 for the day:
Had a really, really nice ride today. Bundled up perfectly for the weather (10 deg F, Sunny and a slight breeze), biked for just over an hour, and logged 9.3 snow-packed miles on my new MTB frame. Nothing crazy. Went out with the intention of riding to a local trail, but not all of the sidewalks/city trails have been plowed yet, and I wasn't about to ride on the mucky roads on a day like today. I ended up just riding the sidewalks that have been plowed around the city, and it was a blast. Most had been cleared recently, leaving just dense snow pack to ride on, but there were quite a few that hadn't been done in a while, and still had a couple inches of loose snow on them. Was able to stay on the saddle for all but one block where I had to walk it through, so I was very pleased. Pics with captions, just for fun: Stopped at a local XC ski trail just to check it out and get a couple pictures like a huge dork. Here's my new toy in the snow: ![]() My get-up: ![]() Attempt number one at a timer-action photo: ![]() Attempt number two (forgot to focus before ):![]() Pic of the XC ski trail for an idea of how much snow we got this past week in our area of the 'burbs...not much really, but just enough to make it really feel like winter finally: ![]() Pic of what the majority of the ride looked like:
