Just coming to Playa with no Reservations or Plans
We just plan on coming to Playa the first of Dec. for two days.
Anyone feel this is bad this time of year. Just want a safe, clean, comfortable hotel to stay in while we play tourist and  look for reasonable housing for 6 months. Are we crazy to not book in advance. We like to check out places before we book site un seen. (bad experiences) Will we have trouble finding a place? Just ask the taxie driver? Thanks |

DON'T ask the taxi driver.
Do a search for the word schlep to find more posts on this common question. Holiday season doesn't really pick up until later in December. Even if you arrived on Christmas day, you'd eventually find something. It's just a question of what you want to spend your vacation time doing: looking for somewhere to stay (schlepping around) or being on vacation.

What one must take into account are the relationships that exist for taxi drivers. A taxi driver that drives you to Chilly Willy's gets 140 pesos in his pocket. These deals exist for hotels also. You are much better off doing schlep research online then showing up knowing what you need to know.
