JW Marriott or Ana Y Jose for vow renewal?

Anyone who has had a wedding at either the JW Marriott or Ana Y Jose's, can you tell me what it was like and what month it was? We want to renew our vows for our 30th anniversary and these are the 2 places I think I have narrowed it down to. It will probably be just us and our 3 teen/adult kids, and most places charge just astronomical prices. The JW would actually be the cheapest, but I don't know if it is the setting we want.

Thanks for any replies, and any other recs are welcome for sites.

I haven't stayed at any of those, but....

.... you are comparing oranges vs. apples. Totally different experiences. rustic against corporate; sand floor versus polished marble; Tulum or Cancun.
Sorry, no way to measure with the same ruler.

What you want? a beach experience or to be pampered? You can have JW Marriot in many other countries and climates, if you want the white sand of the Riviera Maya and find Ana y Jose expensive why not something in between like Akumal or Playa?

Congratulations Actran.....

so happy to hear you are planning a return to Mexico. Can't help you with the location for your vow renewal, but wishing you all the best.

I've never stayed at Ana y Jose but the stretch of beach it's on is absolutely beautiful!

Really... well, what about Al Cielo on Xpu Ha beach then? Or maybe there's somewhere else in Tulum that would work.

i love that beach
i heard it is expensive for weddings there - but it is very nice and reasonably close (compared to Tulum) to town

We actually went to Playa a couple weeks ago. Just my hubby and I for 5 nights. It was great. Very uneventful. I'm doing a trip report over on the AI trip report thread.

I would love Tulum because I've heard it is so beautiful. I want a beach experience. But you say anything that resembles "wedding", and the costs are pretty staggering. If we were having a bunch of people it might be worth it, but it will probably be just us and our 3 kids.

Akumal actually has a decent priced package, but I didn't love the pictures I saw of how it looked.

I'm soooo confused.

Actran....

are you looking for a place to stay and a renewal on their premises? Just wondering. It sounds that way to me. If it is only you and your children I photographed a beautiful little church being prepared for such a service.

The grounds weren't beautiful but the church and atmosphere were wonderful

and you know exactly where this is.

It was like life. Outside the world was going it's busy way, with chaos, people going about business; but inside here, it was peace and serenity and a place to truly reflect on all the things you have to be thankful for.

This probably isn't what you had in mind.

Do you definitely want a package? I would maybe think about renting a small villa on the beach and doing it there. I think that would be more private.
Maybe something like this:

That looks beautiful. But I don't want to have to organize things. I want the beach, at least in the background and for pictures (the JW has a gazebo that overlooks the beach), it would be nice, but not essential to have an "officiant", I want a little decoration (flowers?), cake and champagne (or a reasonable facsimile).
We're staying at the Lindo (probably, no reservations yet) and they want almost $2K for that.
JW charges $700, an officiant is extra.
Ana Y Jose is $100 for the "planner" and the site and officiant. Anything else is extra I think.
I've decided when I retire I am going to come to Playa and run a business doing inexpensive vow renewals for people.

I'd vote for Ana y Jose. It's just gorgeous down there, and it'll be serene. So you're staying at the Lindo so this would be just for the day, right? I can't think of a nicer way to spend a day...on the Tulum beach!
