Ooofta and Friends 2/11/09 - 2/23/09

I will be the first to admit that I’m no writer and my punctuation and grammar are less than desirable. I write as if I’m talking out loud but let’s give it a go!

2/11/09: Travel day.
We’ve all been there.. After just going to bed only hours before, I wake up at 3:00am to catch a 6:00am flight to Cancun. Buddy, my cat, proceeds to help me with my final packing tasks..thanks for keeping my cloths warm Bud..he knows what's up, you can see the evil eye he's giving me :-/

I receive a text from Nina (coming from Minneapolis), “Just in case you were worried..I’m up.” and another from Gina (coming from NYC), “So far so good.” and a voicemail from Penny that I received in the middle of the night (already in Playa), I can’t remember what she said but is was something to the tune of, ‘I’m at such and such bar and am drinking or drunk, having a blast and can’t wait to see you!!!!’….Ahhhh, vacation has begun and everyone is accounted for. Got to the airport and upgraded to first class…an early Birthday Gift to myself, board the plane and take-off!.

Everyone made their connections and surprisingly at the same time as we find out texting each other... I was in Dallas, Gina in Florida somewhere and Nina in Detroit. I catch my connecting flight, get to the Cancun Airport, go through customs..huge lines this time, guess I’ve been lucky in the past. I even manage to spot Gina all the way in the front of the line and we exchange big waves and smiles of excitement. One accounted for and one more to go. Gina and I meet outside the terminal at Coconuts and have a seat, order two beers and some chips and happily wait for Nina’s arrival while basking in the sun. Nina arrives on time all smiles as she spots us, we have another beer, grab the ADO bus and off we go.
On a side note, has anyone had to use the bathroom on the ADO bus before? I do not recommend it even out of desperation.

We arrive in Playa, catch a Taxi to the condo and meet Penny and her son Ty. Penny greats us with a glowing smile and open arms….Yeah!!!! We are here! Some pics of the condo.....

We proceed to throw our stuff in our rooms, grab a quick shower and head out…I think I’m on my third wind at this point or 15 hours. Here is Nina, me and Penny all ready to go out!

And Gina meeting us at the gate of the condo. She demonstrates the wonderful security.

We head down to Fusion to enjoy the evening on the beach and have our fist official drinks in Playa..beautiful night. We eat and then off to the next stop.
We head over to the new reaggae bar.. Roots n’ Fire, a very cool addition to Playa’s 5th Avenue.

We danced, drank and then the travel day caught up with us 23 hours later…this is the last pic of the night of me and Penny...I am one tired girl! Phew…all we have to do is wake up and go to the beach! More tomorrow as we head to Mamita's and Bad Boys
