hello. :) <waves to everyone>

Hey y'all.

I've been lurking around these boards for about a month, and just now decided to create an account! Let me just say that both this forum and website are definitely the most informative place online concerning PDC. Wonderful work Anna and James!

My parents, two of their friends, and myself will be leaving for Playa this Tuesday, Nov. 25th for Thanksgiving. The other couple has been to Playa a few times before and recommended it to us, well actually just my parents. They told me over the summer that they were going to Mexico, and I threatened to have the party of year if I wasn't coming along (all in jest, I promise  ) Well, I guess they thought I wasn't joking (okay, maybe I wasn't heh) and they bought me a ticket as well. Weeeeeeeeeeeee!

Needless to say, we're all very excited about our upcoming trip! I'm going to enjoy the break from school, I know this vacation is long overdue for my mom. The only thing I'm worried about is being an extra-crispy gringo upon my return, as I seem to burn more often than tan. <shrugs> That's nothing a massive bottle of SPF 400 couldn't fix. I guess I don't want to be whiter than the sand, or as red as the sunset.

Anyhow, I've talked my parents into exploring the Mayan Ruins (not sure which ones yet!) and I tried to explain the Playa Deal Card to them, but they didn't quite grasp it..lol. We'll be staying at the Playa Maya for a week, and from the reviews I've read here it is quite the place.

Just wanted to introduce myself (Nick) and say thank you for having such an informative site! I'm planning on taking a journal (now whether I write in it or not, we'll see) and my camera so be prepared for a trip report when we return. :P

Gracias Di!

Nice to meet you as well! I checked out your trip report with the wonderful photos and showed them to the padres! *crosses legs to prevent peeing onself from this excitement*

Being that you just returned this Saturday, would you mind sharing how the weather was? I expect that it could get a tad chilly in the evening being it's in November *thanks playainfo*, but I figure it couldn't hurt to ask, lol.

I'd like to hope that this will be our first of many trips down to Playa. Whopee!

Welcome

Nick,

It is good to see your posts. Welcome to our community.

As you can see from the thanksgiving string, Rosa and I will in town for a few days at the end of the month. A group of us are meeting up on Friday before dinner. Everyone is invited.

I was in Playa a few weeks ago, and the weather was spectacular. It was not chilly in the evenings. We did get a severe rain shower for an hour or so one evening, these things are typical and usually don’t last long. It was late in the evening and the ideal time to move from the beach into one of our favorite nightspots; Captain Tutix.

This is a handy link. You can see the weather on nearby Cozumel.

It looks like they are enjoying a comfortable 75F at midnight.

We hope to see you in Playa.

- Mike

Thanks for the welcome Mike.

Thank you for that weather tip, and I bookmarked the link you posted. It's much appreciated. I mentioned the dinner to my mom on the phone today, and she said "You're the family's guide." LOL! I tried to get her to join this site, but she's been busy at work getting things wrapped up for our trip. With what she said, I am pretty sure they'll be down for whatever, so we'll do our best to meet up with all of y'all.

*jots down Captain Tutix*

Welcome Nick!

Glad you graduated from lurker to registered member of our community. I enjoyed reading your intro. And that's quite an impressive array of smilies you've got in your cyber repertoire.

You'll love Playa Maya. Steve takes great care of his guests. And I know you will absolutely love Playa. It's a magical place.

I look forward to reading all about your adventures upon your return.

Enjoy!

Denise

PS You should definitely plan to meet up with Michael & Rosa Holmes and the rest of the crew when you're in Playa. Trust me, you and your parents will have a blast! I wish I was going to be there too --- but alas I must wait until Dec 21st to feel the warm sand of Playa between my toes.

Hey Di!

LOL, it's George Harrison wearing a tambourine on his head. Who knows, after my trip I might have a picture of me sporting one, lol. I've got some pictures of me posted on this site. (It's a fansite/board group for an online game called The Sims Online.)

I too prefer the sun, lol! Here's one just for you!

Though I can't send any heat your way, maybe this lil devil can.
If that didn't work, may I suggest some hot cocoa? If you make some, please send some my way!

hi,

i see you will be in playa the same time my daughter and i will be. I'm taking her for her 17th b-day. I don't know a whole lot about Playa. We are staying at the Allegro Resort. Have you heard anything about. What about the drinking age and how strict they are. Thanks

Hey there Lil!

What a great birthday present! She's got to be pumped. I am pretty sure the legal age to drink is 18 in Mexico, but I'm not sure. I don't know how strict they are either, as it's my first trip as well. I went to France two years ago, and the legal drinking age there is 18. They weren't strict at all, *I have a friend who was 15 then, that never got carded.. but then again we were foreign, so I dunno if that factored into it or not*.

Anyhow, I hope you have a blast there! I dunno anything about the Allegro, though there might be something in the AI section of these forums. Seems as if a big group of people will be meeting up for Thanksgiving, you can read more in the thread with 'Thanksgiving' in the title, hehe. I am pretty sure my parents and I will be there! Happy travels!

*edited to fix grammar. :P *

Re: 1 more

Yikes, it's 2:39am here.. and I'm not tired. Well, okay a little bit, BUT I'm too excited to sleep!! I've got some extra credit in Art History I need to type up and send to my teacher before I leave (it's actually on the Mayans!) I'm gonna go ahead and start that now. It shouldn't take long, as it's our reaction to a video we watched in class, and I took some good notes! I'll post it up here when I'm finished with it.

After that, I think I think I'll be ready to hit the sack. We're leaving tomorrow around 1:30pm and the flight should take two hours, so I'll catch up on my z's there.

Mexico, here I come!!
