Overstaying FMT for Canadian
Hi Playa People! (James and Anna ; )
I am a Canadian and I plan to come down to Playa for about 6 months to rent a condo and spend money. I don't need a job. I don't want to deal with Mexican Immigration for a FM3 or anything. I will just be bringing a bag of clothes and laptop. I will try to get a 6 month FMT on the plane or wherever, but I wanted to know what kind of fine or restrictions I will have with an expired FMT. All I want to do is rent a condo, and maybe buy a crappy car or motorbike. If I get a 2 week FMT and then stay for 6 months is this a problem? Thank u! |

My friend Pete got a 6 month FMT (forma migratoria turistica, or tourist visa) recently.
You can politely request this at the airport. If not, you can very easily get an extension here in town at the office in Plaza Antigua at the entrance to PlayaCar. I think we talk about it in our general info section under 'read more' above. nick - +2 pts for use of an external smilie (+2 more for anything to do with Harrison). I think I might add some new ones here to make that easier next time. |

I didn't have any trouble getting them, but you can never have too many smilie selections!
