Tacos Gomez in Playa del Carmen

So, Rob and I have been on this peculiar "taco kick" lately. Not just any tacos, mind you, but the kind that most self respecting gringos turn up their nose at. Over the past few months, our tastes have moved from the well known and always delicious pastor, carnitas and kastacan to the more "adventuresome" offerings. The guts, the nasty bits, offal to you you brave foodies out there. Send us your stomach, your intestines, your thymus, your tongue and we will gladly have them fried in lard, heaped on a warm corn tortilla and sprinkled with onion and cilantro. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! I was certain I had found tripa heaven at Senor Taco on 45th by Chedraui until I wandered into Taqueria Gomez.

Read more here, if you dare!

Ok, You and Stewie should start doing the "Adventure Skunk Butt Taco Tour" really soon, I'm sure a lot of peeps would join, even Bumper.

The translations as to what each kind of taco is made of was very informational. Not quite sure I am that ready to jump into cultural eating, but I may get brave.

Taco Gomez is my #1 FAVORITE taco place in Playa!

Extremely savory and tasty meats!...This thread has got my mouth watering....at least you live there and can run over and grab a taco as your cravings allow!

Michelle, I really appreciate how your blog interprets the menu- that will help me when I order next!

Michele,

I can stomach many things. The only one there that gets me is the Seso.

Any type. Something happened as a child and I just can't do it.

Darlin' - did you miss my "Dark side of the moo" report on this place from 2007?

http://www.playa.info/playa-del-carm...cos-gomez.html

This is one of my favorite taco joints in Playa. They cook it all, they waste nothing. The story of a culture is the story of its food - especially they way they cook the "nasty bits." I love this place, and look forward to going back every time I'm in Playa...
