Awesome report Susie! Wish I could have been there with you. The place truly has a place in my heart since our visit post Dean.
I want to spend some time there when I return next- also to check out what is going on at KM55. I know the kindergarden is making steps forward........and I really want to check out if Ivan and his family are still there.

Joana, I kept an eye out for Kevin, but never spotted him in town anywhere. Didn't feel quite right barging into his office looking for him, but I was all prepared to give him your hug!

And I wish I had known it was @ km55. I kept looking down the side roads to see if I recognized any of them. I hope Ivan and family and all of those sweet people are doing well.

Thanks for this report Susie, it brought back such good memories of our trip after Dean. I too would hate to see the "warmness" of Mahahual get lost in future development, so that "Hard Rock" banner made me sad. But more tourists will hopefully improve everyone's standard of living? sigh.

The 3 of you all looked so tan and happy. Loved so many of your pictures, especially with this tree:

Vieve, all the folks who were working the malecón had the look of success about them. The other residents, not so much. I hope it doesn't come to that, where people can only survive if they work for "the man." And the last thing I want to see there is a Hard Rock. But maybe it will be a cruise thing... however, since they have one in Coz, why do they need one there too? I can't imagine what they do with the cruisers in port as shore excursions seem to be non-existent, other than a Jeep trip we saw going back in to the ship. Thankfully, we weren't in town for long while the ship was in port, so we didn't feel crowded. I'm not sure I want to see what that's like.

Oh, and I couldn't get enough pictures of that tree. I loved it! I still have so many more.

Thanks all! (S&A were actually teasing me that first night about all of my pictures being of puppies and babies!)

And maybe we'll see some more pictures posted from Sarah/Adam before long!
