Every time I try to add to my trip report I start reading all the other great ones and never get anymore done on mine. But it's coming, I have the next days photos loaded, maybe tonight.

Wednesday, 3/11/09 Chilaquiles / Chips & Chips / Carbonara

Looking for my Chiliquila fix we headed to La Fragata for breakfast

Nice small place with great service, we ordered and they brought us our juice + some toast, butter & jam.

Donna enjoying her eggs, ham and cheese on toast with taters.

Their chiliquilas pollo are just OK, they only offer them with a red sauce and the chicken was like chunks of a grilled breast, not the normal pulled/shredded kind. I think Nativo’s chiliquilas verda are the best I have had in Playa so far.

Not a bad breakfast for about $10US + tip.

We are off to Mamitas and get our first look at the nice wide paved street leading to the beach. But, where is the sidewalk on the new part? I’m thinking 95% of the people using this street are walking, but no sidewalk.

A great day to be on the beach except for the boats unloading cruise ship people.

After 3 or 4 hours at the beach we head back to our hotel we and stop off at a new little place on 5th called Chips & Chips

Not bad for a snack, we tried the shrimp and fries. They were nice and crisp, not greasy and not all breading like you might think. $65pesos with 2 can of Sprite.

We meet Jimi & Char at Bip Bip that evening. They have a fair Margarita and they are 2x1.

Next stop for drinks

Nice huge place upstairs on 5th

Good Margaritas and DJ shots with Sangrita. $50 pesos Margaritas

Our waiter (Ricky) Martan

Very good free chips and a tuna dip.

----DINNER TIME ---- I what to thank Bumper and his GREAT trip report for leading us to ANTICA.

Shared Caesar Salads. So hungry I forgot to take the photos before they are all but gone.

Shrimp and Zucchini Pizza

Jimi’s Spaghetti, But, where is his Red Sauce, he thinks all spaghetti comes with a red sauce, he wants red sauce.

So, now he’s ready to eat, because

He got his red sauce.

My Very Good Carbonara, thank you again Bumper

A great meal and the service was good the night we ate there.

Yes, we thought the service was very good considering we had this large, somewhat rowdy and I’m sure, very demanding group behind us. (Doggiemom, Shammy,Babaloo, DavidB, dougie and more.) This is when Rick got his lucky $2 bill.

Anyone care to try and guess the name of the place that Donna enjoyed this fine dinner this trip?

Great report so far, but you're making me hungry!!

We loved trying all different things at Dona Mary's too. The three of us ate for $10 as well. It was our cheapest meal and one of our favorites!

We also enjoyed Antica and had very good service.

Jim - nice T-Shirt. Where are you from? Big Leg Emma plays around this area (Jamestown, NY - which is about 25 mile from us)

That's Jimi in the photo (& Char), our friends. He is from Illinois but his son lives in NY and was the drummer for B L E for the last few years. Big Leg Emma is no more.

Jimi's son Rad & GF Kelly, December 07

That's too bad - I never got to hear them play but know some people who were big fans.

Great trip report - as the others have said - reading it makes my mounth water! Can't wait - three weeks and counting!
