$2 Drinks?

I read of a place called $2 Drinks--on 10th Avenue, I believe. Anyone been there? What was your impression?

$2 Drinks is a bar on 10th Avenue between Calle 6 & Calle 8. It's mostly frequented by Mexicans, but I go in there periodically to practice my Spanish. I believe it's still setup as a quasi internet kiosk. On one of the infamous bar crawls, Andrea and I took a sizeable crowd there. We always like going to at least one place that's minus a toilet seat. If you like that one, you'll also like El Tiemplo.

By the way, in that same block is a friendly Asian restaurant called Lotus. It's styled like a buffet and they charge 12 pesos per large scoop (they actually give you a scoop and a half). You can get a pretty good meal for under 50 pesos...

So obviously, it's 2 US Dollars. How do they charge you? What if you're using pesos? Is it just 20 pesos or what?

The drinks (sizeable well drinks) are roughly $2 US... the beer is cheaper. I've always had fun there and met some interesting characters. Guess that's what it's all about.

An upscale joint, huh? I prefer blue-collar. But, I might give it a try and practice my non-Spanish. Thanks for the heads-up.

I was with Jimmy when he went to $2 Drinks. My drink, Bacardi and Diet Coke, was more than $2.

Ok, I know it's kinda off the topic of the thread, but since it was brought up...What IS UP with the missing toilet seats? I was noticing that all over during our trip this year. What really surprised me was that there were no toilet seats at our friends' houses either this year, which there WERE last year...like they actually took them off on purpose. (maybe I will just have to ask them...)

We always travel with our own toilet paper. Now I am picturing myself traveling around with a seat strapped to the outside of my backpack.

$2 drinks is the place to go for a good bar fight on Saturday night. I've seen quite a few guys get tossed out into the street. Good times for sure!! If you time it right on a quincena (pay week) it can get really raucous!!
