Looking for Americans in Playa del Carmen
Hi
My name is Anna and I am doing a PhD at the Uni of Southampton (in England) on travel to Mexico, focusing on people who come here to the Riviera Maya from the US. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who wouldnt mind meeting up with me to share their experience of how they got here to Playa del Carmen and what they think about it and Mexican culture in general? if so that'd be great help and I'd be hugely grateful!!! Do get in touch if you have the time, my email is aep106[at]soton[dot]ac[dot]uk Thanks a million! Anna

Just curious why a Brit is writing about Americans living in Mexico? I'm not knocking it...Just wondering.... Especially what sort of job does a British Phd get with that type of background? (sorry, I must be channeling my parents) It's all so intriguing! |

Why the 'have you no shame' question??? I'm confused, I didn't realize my post was offensive!
I'm not British, just doing a PhD there, I'm actually Greek-Mexican so I reckon still kind of unrelated? I did live in the US for 5 years and....Anyways, I'm doing my project on the topic because i love it, i think its fascinating how Mexico's tourist destinations have evolved and what people think about it so yeah, get in touch, I don't bite.

Fascinating project. Are you doing work in cultural anthropology? |

Oh hahahahaha thanks for the clarification! i was wondering what it could have been about what i wrote, hehe, now it all makes sense :-)
It's not really cultural anthro per se, my school is almost fully interdisciplinary bit and bobs from sociology, social anthro, and cultural studies mainly. I've been doing research in central mexico since january, talking with americans visiting and living there, and now I'm here till may 7th looking to do the same and hoping to meet tons of people. Ah, what a place this is!!! |
