Happy Birthday John Muir!

In honor of John Muir

Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity; and that mountain parks and reservations are useful not only as fountains of timber and irrigating rivers, but as fountains of life. - John Muir

Yes indeed. A truly amazing man. My daughter did a huge report on him earlier this year. We are big fans

Yes my hats off to John Muir and happy birthday. I read the link and even though I am not an American I applaud his efforts and to all those who have dedicated their lives to establishing our National parks and wildlife areas.
I know I appreciate them as do my family, they

A legend for sure. Our National Parks wouldn't be what they are without him. This is me hiking up to Kaweah Pass, Sequoia National Park. I'm on the High Sierra Trail, the John Muir Trail also passes through the park.

Yosemite! That's some pretty country. Used to carry my trusty "Muir" cup dangling off my pack at all times.

Do you have any pics? Here's another. Looking the opposite direction from the pic above.

I'll do some digging. Spent a lot of time on the Pacific crest trail also.

OMG That's beautiful country! Please post more pics of the area. When was this pic taken? I'd love to visit in the summer.

This was July 2001. Summer is the really the only time to hike in this area, as it's covered in snow most of the year. We hiked for 3 days to get to where these pictures were taken.

Thank you so much. The scenery is out of this world. My family would love spending some time there. We love hiking. Now don't be shy with the pics. I won't get bored

I just want to say I'm honoring John Muir. Our National Parks are worth enjoying. And they wouldn't be what they are without him.
