Carboncitos

Was at Carboncitos last week and the place has changed. Not the food, it is still very good but they no longer have the big trompo with the pastor meat roasting on it. It really was cool to watch them carve on it.

That was gone when we went in Feb. I think Russell said something about it being too hot.

We asked the owner about it when we were there in February and he said that it was because of the health inspectors??

Hey all, yes it's true. We moved the trompo to the kitchen back in November. We hemmed and hawed about it and decided it was the right thing to do. 1) And this is paramount - it allows our kitchen crew to keep a watchful loving eye on it at all times. Because of this our pastor is juicier and more consistent than ever. 2) The dining room is cooler, cleaner and just plain more comfortable. We are one of the few restaurants on the strip to have air conditioning and are looking forward to being an oasis from the stifling heat come the summer months. 3) We have replaced the cooking equipment with a dining table and it immediately became the most popular indoor table in the restaurant. It is ideal for people watching both inside and out.
Initially I was apprehensive, but after six months I am feeling good that we made a good decision.
Thanks for your comments.

Hey Russell,

We were there in Sept 08 and had a great time at your restaurant. We're coming this weekend. Looking forward to some of that tasty chips and salsa!!!

We were there last week to eat and drop off 600 tabs of 81mg aspirin. Left the aspirin with the desk lady next door and had some of the great food. Really liked the pumpkin seed sauce with the chips before lunch. I could eat a bowl of it plain. Keep up the good food and we will see you next trip.

Hey Russell- we ate our typical first night in Playa meal at Carbonocitos on April 20 (I think?- geez my memory sucks...) and dropped off 8 bottles of 300 81 mg aspirin. I hope you got it! As usual, our meal rocked- our first time friends were very happy, as well I'm a huge fan of that shrimp/cheese/bacon/peppers dish- yum!

Thanks again for the feedback. And a big thanks for dropping off the medical supplies. PlayaMamma was in last week and I dished a bunch off to her for delivery. Everyone is really stepping up in a big way to help the local children in Playa. It really means a lot and I'm proud to be involved.

Oh, I am with you there. That stuff is divine.

Can't wait to eat there again when I'm back in November!

Hi Russell
Will be there the beginning of June hopefully. Can you explain to me the aspirin? Who does it go to? I too would like to help out, but I am kinda a newbie to Playa so I have not heard of it before.
Thanks

Look through the forum and you can find the who/what/where/why about the asprin as I can't remember exactly what it all was. We went there for lunch today and dropped some off. Gave it to the waiter and he seemed to know what it was for. Had some delicious tacos too!

The aspirin is for the Angel Hands Clinic who care for kids with heart problems. 81mg aspirin is not available in the aerea and is very much apreciated. We took 600 tabs last week. You can find it at a good price at Target, Walmart etc. It needs to be the 81 mg type and is a bit more expensive than regular aspirin. Russel has agreed to accept it and get it to where it will doa lot of good. They also need other items such as ace bandages first aid kits and others that I cannot remember but the aspirin seemed easiest to take down for us.
