Since this has been bumped up, I may as well use it to post my question rather than starting a new thread. I'm looking at going back to Playa this spring (my 6th time there). Last time I was there, I had a good time hanging out at Mamita's and thought I'd try to stay somewhere convenient to it. Any good recommendations? Sounds like Riviera del Sol is pretty nice. Pictures look gorgeous. Only concern is the 5 minute walk to beach - would like to be closer. Any other (newer?) recommendations?

I guess if you walk slow it will take you 5 min. but it's good exercise to work off all the beer one drinks in Playa......

In July I stayed at the Riviera Caribe Maya for more than 3 weeks. They granted me a discount because the length of my stay. Staff is VERY friendly and helpful. Got beach towels and a ticket for Mamitas Beach Club every day. Highly recommend it.

If you click on the Trip Planning tab above and then on Riviera Caribe Maya, you can fill out a form to request info specific to how long you'd want to stay and, more importantly, when you'd want to stay, as rates vary depending on time of year. I checked out their web site, and the packages only go up to 14 days.

We stayed at Royal Palms Condominiums/Suites (arranged through playa.info) which is at Avenida 5 and Calle 26. Great location near Mamitas and great condos at a very reasonable price.

In July it was $43 per night for a comfortable room with a/c, cable tv, fridge, spacious shower. They didn't charge me any tax because I paid cash.

Sorry to keep bringing this thread back, but my question seemed most appropriate here.

Looking at a condo on Calle 40 @ 10 Ave. Is 40th actually Ave. Andres QR, and if so, is the traffic similar to Constituyentes or Juarez? Don't mind the walk to the 'centre' of 5th, and will have a vehicle to use for day trips and such. Any other pros or cons of being this far north? I know the area is becoming more and more developed, but any input is appreciated.

Gracias.
