Viva Aerobus....say it isn't so!!!!!
Due to the swine flu outbreak.....Viva Aerobus will end flight services from Austin to Cancun starting May 31st.........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Had trouble with the link so I copied and pasted: VivaAerobus ceases Austin – Puerto Vallarta and Austin – Cancun services VivaAerobus informs the cease of operations of its Austin – Cancun and Austin – Puerto Vallarta services effective on May 31, 2009. Due to the unfortunate outbreak of the swine flu virus VivaAerobus has received an unprecedented amount of requests for cancellations from American passengers booked on its Austin – Puerto Vallarta and Austin – Cancun routes. Along with these, the number of passenger “no shows” has increased substantially as well during the past weeks. The last flights will operate on Sunday May 31, 2009. The airline understands passengers’ growing concerns and their desire to cancel their bookings. Unfortunately, due to the level of demand for people seeking refunds, the level of no shows and the dramatically reduced level of demand for future travel, VivaAerobus has decided to cancel these routes. The airline recognises that this decision will inconvenience a number of passengers who still intended to use its services this summer. However, this number is significantly less than the number of passengers who have been seeking a refund. If you have a flight booked on either of these routes, please click here. Our priority right now is to minimize any disruptions to booked passengers on canceled flights. A full refund to your credit card is already in process for the value of your purchase, which should be reflected on your account by Tuesday May 26, 2009. If the credit card used to purchase your tickets has expired or has been cancelled, please provide the airline with the following information on another credit card: |

Wife wanted to go to Hawaii in 2010, but at that price we decided it would be the better choice, plus the kiddo could go too. |

Sorry. I'm still trying to wrap my head around their reasoning for cancelling service now.......you'd think they would have stopped service for a short period of time and then get back to regular flights to and from Austin/PV/Cancun. Strange. Good luck in getting your return flight. I do know AA has a good deal but not sure if that helps you at all. Not sure how far you are from DFW.

Bad news for TX peeps..
Viva Aerobus, are canceling all flights from Austin to MX due to low turnout and cancellations because of swine flu.
Didn't hear whether they will start again after all this blows over. Knew $116 rt tickets couldn't last forever.
