Memorials for Jimmy Brown
Many Playa locals have been very sad this week, as we tragically and suddenly lost our good friend, Jimmy Brown. Jimmy, who had been involved in many businesses in Playa, including the now-defunct No Name Bar and Pinche Gringos, was a good, kind, generous man and was loved by nearly everyone he met.
Jimmy's children have traveled from Guadalajara and have asked those who loved him to gather at PG's tonight at 5 pm to raise a glass in his honor. This is on the corner of Calle 26 and Avenida 1. From there, we will move down to Beer Bucket on Calle 10 between 5th and 10th, and then to Bad Boys on the beach between Calles 2 and 4. In addition, tomorrow at 2 pm, many locals will be gathering at 2 pm at Mom's Bar on Calle 4 and Avenida 30, for a potluck get-together of friends celebrating the life of our good friend. It is impossible to measure the degree to which Jimmy Brown will be missed. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Also, I would like to write a blog honoring Jimmy and would like to include any photos, anecdotes, or favorite stories from any and all of his friends. If you would like your name, photos, and stories included in this blog, please send the information/photos to me at heatherinparadise[at symbol removed]hotmail[dot]com

Jimmy Brown A Legend
My name is Alex Bowman from Scotland I am a close family friend of the Brown family since I was a kid, when I heard the tragic news on Monday I was speechless and in pure disbelief. My heart goes out to Alex,Jimmy jnr and Betty and Jimmy's brother Wallace and Mother Nessie back home in Scotland.
Jimmy was a great man and was good enough to let me stay with him for three weeks in Guadalajara and Puerto Vallerta with his Family. Jimmy was a gentleman and is going to be sadly missed. I still can't come to terms with this and my prayers and thoughts are also with any friends lucky enough to have known or met him. The family have had alot to deal with in the last year and this news has hit them all very hard. Jimmy im going to miss you, thank you for everything you have done for me and for all the wonderful memories I have had with you and your family, this is simply not fair what has happened. With all the love in the world from The Bowman family and everyone who knew jimmy from the east neuk of fife and Scotland. I still can't believe im writing this RIP XXXX LOVE ALEX BOWMAN |

I am so lucky to have had Jimmy as my big cousin for 50 years - he was always the most generous and loving cousin anyone could wish for. I will always remember the many happy times we spent together.
The tributes on this site are so comforting - but it is so awful he has been taken from us in such a way. We are so stunned and very, very sad. The world has lost a good person, our lives will be colder and very empty without him. Thank you to his friends in Mexico for the posts and photo's above. |
