secrets capri info
Hi! My husband and I have a question about the dress code at dinner. How formal or casual is it? We will be going in March to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We're much younger than that sounds.
Does anyone have any pics yet? Thanks for your input!! :o :o |

 Just got back on the 4th, after 7 days at Secrets. The dress code is "no shorts" for men, and "elegant sandals" for women.....no joke, these are quotes out of their materials. Basically, they really frown on anything but long pants on men....lots of khaki's and golf shirts, but we only saw an occasional tie. Some women wore pants to dinner, but lots of dresses, not necessarily dressy. The "Riviera" was a little more casual than the "Capri", but we saw a pretty wide variety.
Have a terrific time. We definitely did!!! |

Mopeace, can you post a trip report on Secrets? We are going Feb 19 and are anxiously awaiting any reports. I would love to hear in detail the restaurants, menus, any meals that you had. Thanks for any info. JulieR

We get there 3-3-04 and will be staying for 9 nights. When you guys are ready to socialize maybe we can have a drink! I hear the prices are OK!
We wanted to renew our vows during our stay. I posted a request for info a few days ago but haven't gotten any responses yet. My travel agent is checking it out for us though. Can anyone tell me about the condition of the beach? I read a review that wasn't very good at all one of the first weeks they were open. The writer did say that once the problem was identified they were on it though. Just wondering!

I am a travel agent and I had a client stay there from 11/25 through 11/30. She said the beach was great and her first full day there she couldn't get out of the ocean until she was stung by a jellyfish! :o
She said the service was great and the hotel was beautiful. She said she was treated like a princess. I think it would be awesome to have a vow renewal ceremony at Secrets. I've set them up for people at other resorts but not yet at Secrets. Let me know how it goes for you. My fiance, Chris, and I would love to meet up for drinks. The first round is on us though! LOL! Are you planning on taking any tours? |

Penny- Sorry it took so long to respond. Yes we do plan to do some tours. We'll for sure go to Xcaret and also do a snorkeling trip. The ruins are pretty cool but it's really hot.
Where are you guys from? We live in St. Louis county. Have you heard anything acout the room types? I read a review that all the Jr. suites are on the 1'st floor and offers no view! I hope not because that's what we booked. I guess it's not too late to change though. Sarah |

We're definitely doing Xcaret and I want to swim with the dolphins. We may go to Moroma Beach one day. Not for sure on that yet. I would like to do the ruins, especially Tulum. I'm looking into a private tour though with a chauffered vehicle. I know it's a little extravagant but I don't want to be on a bus for an extended period of time and I want it to be really special. The same day we do that we would go for a romantic lunch at some exotic restaurant. I've got some contacts down there coming up with suggestions for me.
As far as I know all rooms offere either an ocean view or a jungle/garden view. The best thing to do is to double check with whomever you have booked. There are some ocean view junio suites because I've seen that category for sale with some wholesalers. Also, I've heard that a large percentage of their rooms offer some view of the ocean whereas only a small percent of the rooms are just garden view. Check with your booking agent to verify your view. If a view is not specified, make sure you request ocean view. We're from Big D. Born and raised in Dallas. However, my parents are yankees so I have no detectable Texas accent (except for when I'm drunk.) LOL The travel agency I work for is in Richardson, TX. Not too far from my home which is good because driving in this town can be a really big pain in the rear. :-? |

Free wedding's with a minimum stay.....NOT
Just got the info on the wedding service Secrets offers and guess what? We recieved a 2 page listing of the charges. Their web site says if you book a 7 night min. ocean front room pretty much everything is included. What I got from my travel agent lists charges for everything from the minister to use of the gazebo, totaling over $700.00! It's not like we even wanted a huge event. We just wanted to renew our wedding vows. I don't know, my agent may have screwed up. I hpoe so!

According to the Secrets web site. If you stay 7 nights or longer in an ocean view suite you receive the following complimentary:
*services of the judge *wedding planner to assist with details *preferrential room location of the category you booked *preparation and ironingof the wedding dress and tuxedo *complimentary room for the groom the night before *personal dressing assistant *use of the wedding gazebo *silk bouquet *boutonniere for the groom *small wedding cake and one bottle of sparkling wine *special turndown service for wedding night *10% discount on all spa treatments *late check out Since you're just renewing your vows and I'm assuming it's just you and your husband then I don't see why it would cost money if you book the proper room category. If you like, you can e-mail me at penny.johnson@canyoncreektravel.com and I will see what I can do to help you. Thanks, Penny |

I printed out the page listing the free services provided by Secrets r/t wedding's. I'm going to give it to my agent (hope she doesn't take offense) to give her one more chance. She's our neighbor so this could be touchy, but I feel I'm doing more research than she is!
Anyway, I'll let you know what happens. |

March visit
Hi you two, I am going to be at Secrets with my husband starting March 7th for 4 nights. I see you all might be looking for a private tour to the ruins. I hear Anna gives great tours (Anna is one of the webmasters for this site). She says you need at least 6 people at about $75-85/person. If you are interested we would make 6 and I would love the more personal touch of an Anna tour. Let me know if you are interested either by posting or a pm. We can email Anna and see if she is available one of the days we are all there.

I'm not sure we"ll tour the ruins again so I would hate for you to count on us. We did it a few years ago on a bus tour and spent a lot of time there. I know we'll go to Shell ha (spelling)??? We could have spent at least half a day there. I also want to swim with the dolphins again. That was worth the trip alone, so we'll do Xcaret. Maybe we'll see you there though!
