Nancy, we walked as far as we could walk in both directions from the Shangri-la, and there are so many condos in that area, that I wasn't really sure which were the Natz Ti Ha, where you stayed. Are they to the north of SLC or to the south, toward Mamitas and Kool? In any case, the beach in that whole area is very very good.

Thanks Jillianbee! Yes, I was sworn to secrecy so as not to blow Kim's surprise. She's a fun person, and thankfully, I did not blow her cover. It was hard when talking about the Peep meets and so forth!

Great start, I have been looking forward to this! We have walked by the Shangri-la on every one of our vacations to Playa and wanted to stay there. We always say "next time." Sounds like we better hurry before it becomes condos.

Looking forward to more! And Happy Anniversary!!!

Good game to watch! Btw, I like the limo idea- way to start off your holiday in style! I wonder what a limo would cost from the ferry

Thanks for the anniversary wishes! Our true anniversary insn't until August, but the timing for the trip was better in the spring before the kids are out of school. You should definitely find your way to SLC...it is worth every penny.

The ride is actually quite economical...cheaper than staying at the airport hotel, for sure. It's great for a very ealry flight like this one. Usually they send a sedan, but this was a treat!

Awww...I love you too, sweetie! Doesn't that expression on my face just say it all? Pretty much "yeah, I'm done...get me outta here!"

Anne, SLC seems very similar in feel to the place where you and Brian stayed in Tulum, maybe not quite as rustic and with some meals included. I think you'd like it. The proximity to town is nice. Our one regret is that we never made it to Tulum this time. We had such a nice beach that we just couldn't leave it.

You should have seen the people walking past me as I was doing the "Day 1" "Day 2" etc. intros...I was crouching right at the water's edge, and people were walking up behind me, watching me write, as if I was doing something very interesting. People then made an effort to walk around and not walk on the writing, which stretched pretty far before I was done. It was fun.
