Our First Trip Report Riu Caribe 6/3-6/8

Okay, well where to begin. I have never done one of these so please take it easy on my flow of how things went exactly. Well first of all we had a early flight on Wednesday so we had to run the kids to my sisters house which is and hour and a half away and then head back home and pick up our friends. We then headed to Houston for a short night sleep near the IAH airport because we had a 7:00am flight via Aeromexico. I think we slept from midnight till 4am.

We got up, showered, loaded everything up and caught the 5:00am shuttle to the airport.

So at this time i realize that i never told the hotel that we were leaving our car there. I called real fast while in the shuttle and they basically said for us to pay them when we return and that our car would not be toed away.

Anyway, we arrived a few minutes later only to find out that the flight had been changed to 8:25am.

That was a bummer and we had to stand around for about 45minutes until the ticket counter opened up. Once they did we were on our way through the metal detectors and took our very first picture of the trip.

I am the guy on the right in yellow. I may not look tired, but i was. So we headed to terminal E to get some breakfast and waste some time. Ohh by the way, i found out at that time that i forgot to put in my SD disk in the camera

before leaving town and was lucky enough to be able to buy one in one of the audio/video flight stores.

So now we finish eating and time to just chill out and wait.

The time passed by quickly and before long it was time to go. The flight was okay, but we had to fly around two big storms. This is one of them.

Then i got my little snack and some coffee.

As we approached Cancun we knew it was cloudy, but it was still before noon so we thought it might clear up for us to get a nice afternoon of beach time in. After we arrived and had out temp checked and got all our luggage we met up with our Funjet guy and got on the bus. This is a picture of our friends. We don't have their pics yet so not too many of us yet.

I had 2 and a half Coronas on the way to the hotel since my wife didn't finish hers (shes not a big beer drinker but likes Mich ultra). Well I ask the funjet guy on the bus if we are staying at Riu Caribe since I found out it was to open back up the day of our arrival and he said yes, it opened today which I was very happy about. We got to the hotel and the place was a ghost town! We were literally probably the 10th or 15th people to check in. I gave the guy at the front desk an extra $20 for a good view and then told him how sorry i was about them having to close for a month because of the swine flu hysteria. He understood and shook my hand. The girls had a welcome drink while we finished checking in.

After that it was time to head to the room and it was the basic room, but we did get a big balcony and a great view from the 5th floor.

As you can see this is about 12:30 in the middle of the day. Should be hundreds of people down there, but nada! We felt like the only people there.

We then grabbed a quick bite to eat at the buffet outdoors and then it was time to get changed into our swim suits and then head to the beach. We had to do our yearly ritual which is to take a picture of each other in our swimsuits so we can compare to the previous year to see if we are in better (or worse) shape then the year before. lol I know its goofy.

Dang it is a pain to put sunscreen on!

But don't wanna get burned.

So then we headed down to the beach and the girls were ready to get to relaxing and working on their tans.

Then what the heck who needs tan lines. lol

We just chilled out on the beach for a while and drank several drinks. Ross at the Pizza bar was happy to see us and was bringing us drinks down faster than we could drink them. I prefer the Pepsi Lite and Coconut rum, but we were drinking dosxx's and fruity drinks as well.

Okay thats as far as i can get tonight, but I will continue Day #1 tomorrow and start off where the other couple that came with us showed up later in the day. Hope this is a good start. If not please let me know.

Well we are from Victoria. I will try my best to post the rest of first day later tonight and then maybe get started on Day#2. Sorry for being so green at this. Will do my best to not give too much detail about things that do not pertain to the actual trip.

Everybody is green when they begin,,

but you'll get the hang of it really fast I'm sure and be a pro before you know it

Oh, and we LIKE the details, don't leave them out,,,,

Welcome Billy! Loving your report so far! Pour on the details! We live for this stuff! I was laughing at the comparison between this year and last year's bathing suit pictures! You both look in pretty good shape to me! More trip report please!

Nice start. People generally prefer both pics and narrative so you are doing well (although people are just happy you do anything). Just have fun with it and it will be good. Stupid drunk stories and pictures are highly encouraged.

Looking forward to the rest of this trip report and your next trip report from Playa.

Just curious, did you like it that it was dead or was it too boring???

Okay, gonna try to get started with some more. Thanks for the feedback. Well we liked it that it was dead, but it was nice when it started picking back up also. It just had a wierd feeling to it being empty. I wouldnt have liked it to be that way the entire time.

Okay, so after staying out at the beach for a couple of hours and drinking way too much it was time to go back to the room and "nap" for a while. Then I went down and verified that the other couple that was meeting us at the Riu Caribe had arrived. They had and were already checked in so we decided to meet up in the lobby and then go eat at the outdoor steak restaurant. The food was good, but we were very hungry so that helped. I had the 8oz sirloin and and Laura had the garlic shrimp (sorry I don't have pictures, but like I said I am a newby at this stuff). Then after dinner the girls decided that they wanted to go over to the Riu Cancun to visit the disco. It didn't open until 11:00pm so we had to go to the Sports bar until then. We were the first ones in the place, but by the time 11:00pm rolled around it was packed.

As soon at the clock struck 11pm we decided to head down (sport bar is on the second floor) and the place was already kickin!

I am feeling pretty good at this point

The girls were getting their groove on pretty good.

Then some other girls joined in on the party and one was getting a little over friendly with our friend lol

We stayed at the disco drinking and dancing until 2:00am and got back to our room about 2:15am after catching the bus for a short ride down the road. It didn't take us long to fall asleep that is for sure.

Well that completes the first day. I should have more pictures as i post day 3,4,5,6 since i will get my friends picture from their camera tomorrow or Friday. I will try to start Day two in a few minutes. I have to upload some more pics.
