$ planning

I know this will vary greatly, but how much $ do you typically budget per day for expenses while in Playa? We are staying at La Tortuga, so breakfast is included but we will be paying for lunch and dinner and drinks. We are more drinkers than eaters so I am sure we will spend more on liquid nourishment than food!

I am travelling with my husband...so dinners will mostly be the two of us.
Any advice would be appreciated. THANKS!

You can spend a little or a lot. Expensive food and drinks to very inexpensive. The food carts are cheap and GREAT! Beers are not bad in many places. Tequila drinks can get pricey. Take a cab to Walmart or Mega and get a bottle or 2 for (in between) drinks. A fifty dollar bottle of tequila for $20 bucks you can't go wrong with! Walk 5th ave. but be sure and check out the side streets. A few nice nights spending $$$ filled in by lots low cost stuff will keep the budget down. I could live on cheap tacos and cervesas for a few bucks a meal! It's all that good.

I agree with the $100 per day plus any additional amount to spend on any excursions. In addition to food & drinks, you may also be renting beach chairs, paying for taxi rides, etc.

We spend $100 per day or less per couple. Usually less.

yep...i like those high end tequilas and make it a double please!! plus, i tend to sometimes splurge on a nice...more expensive...meal a few times per trip. guess it balances out from when i forget to eat and concentrate more on drinking!!!

$ per day

It also depends on what your day is like. Are you spending the whole day in the water and on the beach, or do you get up at noon and party til Dawn

For us, it is around $100 -$120 a day, but sometimes it is less then that. I like good liquor. Also, this amount of money includes taxi rides, tip for the maid, beach chair rentals, and cigars.

If we take a daytrip to Xpu-Ha or Tulum, it is going to be more. Roundtrip taxi to Xpu-Ha is around $18.00. When we go to Tulum, we'll ride the bus to Tulum Pueblo and then take a taxi back to Playa.

For Tequila Girl and I, it is combined between $100 - $150 a day depending on where we eat and how much we drink. The where we eat seems to be more variable as sometimes it is tacos carts and sometimes it is a bit nicer place. The how much we drink is more constant as we make the most of our week!

My general rule for the 2 of us is $10-$20 for breakfast, $10-$20 for lunch, $20-$30 for dinner a couple beers, and then $50-$75 on drinks during the day and at night.

thanks!

Thank you all for your input, it definitely helps...we will likey be at the beach most of the day, but will probably start with drinks at lunch. BUT we will definitely have some drinks in our room to save $ as well.

Thanks!

Drinks (and some snacks) in the room will help a lot. Because Mexico is a "to go" place, you can make a good strong drink on the way out the door. That will get you a little farther down the road before you get too parched and have to stop.

I spend about $100 a day when I go by myself, which includes all the booze I want and a little shopping. I like to tip well, too.
