Well, y'all have succeeded in confusing me....but, despite what y'all conservatives predicated, we ARE going to pass a health care reform bill.
It is a very good night!![]() Good night, indeed! From the article I linked... By a vote of 224-206, the House approved the key procedural measure necessary to pass the legislation, showing that Democrats and Mr. Obama had succeeded in cobbling together the votes they need to achieve a goal sought by presidents and progressives for more than a half-century. |

Success seems to beget popularity: Obama's job approval, per Gallup, has popped back up to 50% to 43% after a moment upside-down.
Obama's approval rating is still well below his sky-high numbers of the first half of 2009, but the recovery in Gallup's daily tracking figure seems to bolster the White House's contention to members of Congress that passing health care reform is key to reviving Democrats' fortunes. The poll, of course, was taken before the passage of health care began to appear assured this afternoon. Bill Clinton predicted last year that Obama's numbers would jump ten percentage points "the minute health care reform passed." politico.com Last edited by roni; 03-21-2010 at 09:05 PM.. |

Can't be sure, but I don't think you can vote "present" in the Senate, so, it's just as well.

Just a little slip of the "tongue" (or is it finger?) there... ![]() He was at least a Senator! Here ( you should really re-read this whole speech) What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income — to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression. That’s what I’m opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics. Last edited by Jacko; 03-21-2010 at 08:59 PM.. |
