Ok so thanks for clearing that up......My bad. I look forward to all those people and I would have to assume they are all from more than one state.....Letting all these individuals know that they want them to drop the lawsuits right? I mean there is such OVERWHELMING support by JOE CITIZEN that this should be nipped in the bud really quickly.......

Don't hurt yourself backpedaling so quickly like that, there!

I note you did not comment on the powers Jefferson assumed in the Embargo Acts... Does that mean you think those are in fact rather like this situation?

Mother furious after in-school clinic sets up teen's abortion | KOMO News - Breaking News, Sports, Traffic and Weather - Seattle, Washington | Local & Regional

SEATTLE -- The mother of a Ballard High School student is fuming after the health center on campus helped facilitate her daughter's abortion during school hours.
The mother, whom KOMO News has chosen to identify only as "Jill," says the clinic kept the information "confidential."

When she signed a consent form, Jill figured it meant her 15 year old could go to the Ballard Teen Health Center located inside the high school for an earache, a sports physical, even birth control, but not for help terminating a pregnancy.

"She took a pregnancy test at school at the teen health center," she said. "Nowhere in this paperwork does it mention abortion or facilitating abortion."Jill says her daughter, a pro-life advocate, was given a pass, put in a taxi and sent off to have an abortion all during school hours without her family knowing.
"We had no idea this was being facilitated on campus," said Jill. "They just told her that if she concealed it from her family, that it would be free of charge and no financial responsibility."

The Seattle School District says it doesn't run the health clinics at high schools. Swedish Medical Center runs the clinic at Ballard High and protects the students' privacy.

T.J. Cosgrove of the King County Health Department, which administers the school-based programs for the health department, says it's always best if parents are involved in their children's health care, but don't always have a say.

"At any age in the state of Washington, an individual can consent to a termination of pregnancy," he said.

But Jill says she not only didn't have a say in her daughter's abortion, but also didn't know about it.

"Makes me feel like my rights were completely stripped away."

Lets see who is right here, Mikey...lets see how this goes and then talk again..mark my word..this is a huge waste of taxpayer money and it should be obvious to them that this is so...I can only conclude it is to get visibility in front of their constituents and the media.

Wow...

Man, I even gave you quotes referring to American ship owners having their cargo and ships confiscated at the whim of the U.S. President -- again, the man you keep quoting back to us, here -- and you miss it. Like, wholesale -- missed the whole side of the barn, there, with that answer. That's precisely the government having enough power to take everything away from you.

By the reasoning in your answer, this health care legislation is just as foreign a matter, and also not domestic...

And you're not worried about the land purchase, even though Jefferson himself thought he was sacrificing States' rights by extending federal powers -- and what's more, the power of the one-man Executive -- beyond what the Constitution granted.

I daresay you just don't like what you don't like, and it doesn't have much at all to do with the Constitution, in the end...

I have been worried about the mandate point since the beginning, myself. I am not worried about any state laws or amendments. That's a total waste of time, there, for sure, passing a state law or voting on a state amendment in that way. I guess maybe they'll try to model such on the medicinal marijuana type of situation? But then that's funny, because suddenly conservative types would be just be saying yes to drug use.

I also cannot imagine repeal in the regular sense of new voting, new legislation to overturn this legislation, and so forth. It's just... that's la-la land thinking, there. That displays a lack of more careful thought or understanding of the nature of our government and the way it works and who will and will not be elected this fall and who will continue in office and so on.

Further down the road appeals also seem just about as unrealistic, to me, given that they could only happen after this has well settled in and become the status quo and people see what benefits they're getting and all that.

I read with optimism the reports that the courts have long ruled on a broad interpretation of the commerce clause and the suggestion that they will do so again in this case. But I worry about that more than anything. That, even if it takes years to get to the Supreme Court, as some have said, wouldn't have either the political voting hurdle or the status quo kind of political will hurdle to get over, really. So I will be interested to see what happens on that count.

For all the conservatives on this thread, Deerhunter, Mikey, Seakony, Horizon, Stogey, etc., etc. I think you should quit wasting your valuable time with us progressives, we just don't get it.

Oh, the thread you should be posting on is The Biggest Loser--Season 9

Don't worry Deer, the ultra libs on this forum will give some BHO speal on this too.
All I want to know from you ultra libs, do you really think this is right? If so please speak on it. I for one think this is horrendous. But, you people obviously love the path this situation takes on. Are the libs gonna call this a "isolated incident".

It's wrong on all counts, IMHO, but what's it got to do with universal health care.

Its funny WE are called the Narrow Minded One's .. But I have spent 3+ months reading others opinions and experssing my opinion where I am OBVIOUSLY in the Minority... But yet I have invited the Libs here to join on a website on these exact same topics where they would find themselves in about the same situtation as I do here .. I wonder if even 1 has had the courage to debate their view there ???

I know one went and read a few posts and came back whining....

It depends on the state. Some states have Parental Consent laws where a minor needs written permission from a parent to obtain an abortion; others have Parental Notification laws where the minor must notify the parents of the abortion but does not require their actual consent; some states have one or both of these laws and some have neither. Washington has neither. Why, do you think we need a federal law to usurp the state's individual law or would that be unconstitutional?

Do I personally think parents that should be involved in a minor's decision to have an abortion? Yes, absolutely.

Well is this the type of Health Care you want for your daughter.. it aint mine.. and this happened at a PUBLIC School which We are mandated to make our children attend UNLESS We can afford to take our children else where... Which Most Pasrents cant afford to do... So we are stuck with this type of Hostile atmosphere towards parent .. The liberal plays the good guy when your child is at there had a major decision ... the girl is naturally scared of her parents finding out...

So what would the Devil tell her ... Shhh We can fix it and know will ever know.....

Jesus would say.... Talk with your parents they LOVE you More than ANYONE on this Earth..
