Secrets Capri Room Service
Yes it is a full 24 service. You can get such things as a Club Candwich, Tacos, breakfast items, fruit plate etc. I don't remember all items but if you ask for some things that are not on the romm service menu they are pretty good about filling your order depending on how busy they are. i.e. We got the munchies one night after leaving the Desires Lounge and ordered two plates of French fries with a bottle of Champagne!!
Food arrives in a heated cart with table cloth, all utensils, and even a couple of flowers in a glass bowl. We ordered three times in the week we were there and it took from 18-30 minutes to arrive. |

question on room service
I may sound dumb here, but is room services included in the all inclusive price or is there an additional charge for room service (over and above the tip)? We did all inclusive in Jamaica, but they didn't have room service. This is only our second all inclusive trip and we are naive to the process especially in Mexico.
Thanks. |

SC Room Service:
There are no additional charges for the room service or what you order ... that is unless you order some off the wall very special wine that they have available at added cost.
We did tip the delivery person when they got it to the room. They ask if you want it set up in the room or on the balcony and set it up for you to sit down to. It is a very nice touch! |

Secrets Capri rooms Service/Comments
Jaxi;
Yes, we loved the place. This was our sixth time in the PDC area and this resort was right up there and above other 5 stars we stayed at. It is a quiet resort in that the activity level is low. There are things to do like sailing and water arobics, beach volleyball, Scuba lessons etc. however the general concensus seemes to be to relax and sit by the pool or strole the beach. You are about a 10 min. taxi ride to PDC (or take the afternoon shuttle the resort provides) for shopping site seeing or ferry to Cozumel if you like that sort of thing. As we had been to this area the six times (last time was March) we didn't leave the complex other than long walks on the beach. We wanted the relaxed atmosphere with the pampering and they delivered first class. Food was very good ... not always what you may be used to or expecting, but nevertheless very good. The entertainment was very good at both Fiesta nights. They hired professionals instead of using the staff as many other resorts do. The Desires (sports lounge) had evening entertainment that was also very goos and there is a father/daughter trio that serenades the patrons during the evenings at the restaurants. They sell a CD of themselves for $15 US if you ask them. Makes a nice souvenier. The conceirge service was excellent. If you needed anything they did their best to get it for you very promptly. Although tipping is optional, we always tip for good service and even for the room cleaning etc. A few dollars to the staff is really appreciated and I do think it helps for even closer personal attention when you need it. If you remember to go there and relax and be patient, all will go very well. They had some minor problems that we heard about for the first week or two, however we had no problems really and were impressed with how well they operated only having been open for three weeks. We tend to go to newer resorts that have been opened less than a year and until we stayed here the earliest that we had been to other resorts was about three months. I can really only say good things about the resort and I am confident that they will only improve with time. If you pick the resort for what it is and how it matches up to what you want in a holiday you will have a great time and not be dissappointed! P.S. As always, Adults only is a big plus for a relaxed atmosphere. |

Hi Silverstreak,
I'm from Ottawa too and looking forward to staying at Secrets the first week of March. Thank you so much for your input as it has relieved some of my anxieties from reading some of the other posts. I think Secrets is exactly what I will be needing at that time of year. Could you give me some information about the spa and exercise facilities? I plan on booking a few treatments at the spa and hope to exercise some of the good food off. I only have 2 1/2 months to wait before I leave for PDC. Not that I'm counting or anything!! Have a great day everyone. 8) Lizzie |

Spa & Exercise facilities Secrets Capri
Lizzie;
We toured the spa & exercise facilities but didn't use them. In one of the recent posts on SC someone mentioned the neme of the exercise equipment. .... All that I can tell you is that there was a fair bit of stairmaster type, exercise bikes, eliptical trainers , some free weights , resistance station multi exercise machines in the room. Also 4 TV's, cold bottled water and the place is air conditioned. There is a hair salon, mineral baths and massage area too all in the same complex site which is just under the main ball room. Also saw champagne on ice nearby in the beauty salon!! Both times we went in the area no one was using the equipment. (no waiting!!) Seemed a shame, however the weather was beautiful and the pool area was being used as it should be. That is one area that I forgot to take pictures of but it was much better than most other 5 stars we have stayed at in the area. Hope this helps, Cheers. |

Thanks for the info Silverstreak! I was wondering if I could ask an additional question. You seem very informed. I have heard that the beach at Secrets capri may not be as nice as the beach in Playacar. Is this true? How's the sand, water, and ocean bottom. Is it sandy and for how long? I have stayed at the Riu Palace and loved the beach there in Playacar. Just wondering how the beach at Secrets Capri measures up in comparison? Thanks for your time.
take care, mike |

Hey jaxi
I wonder if we'll be there at the same time?! We're arriving on 1/6 ... a group of about 20 of us going for hubby's work. Last year it was Riu Palace so I'm excited to compare w/Secrets. Would be cool if we ran into eachother! Will you be with a group or a couple?

SC Beach
Mike;
We too stayed at Riu Palace and a few others along the PDC beach. I can tell you that the beach at SC area is even more comfortable to walk along as the entry to the ocean is very gradual so you are walking closer to horizontal for your footing when you walk along the beach. It is fairly hard packed along the beach/water interface when you walk with the occassional wave washing your feet. To the right of the resort you can walk for about 45 min to reach the next operatiopnal hotel in that direction. You can walk further than that if you like. It was about an hour and a half return at a slow easy pace barefoot to that point and return. There is only the occassional small piece of glass to on the lookout for. If you walk on the dry upperportion of the beach there is more broken glass and some garbage to be aware of. There is another resort (El Manderin) beside the SC on the left. In summary the beach is very nice and is well kept at least in front of the resort itself. ... still comfortable to walk on the unkept beach area though. Hope this helps. |

SC vs RP
Winnie;
You ask a tough question ... There are plusses for both. RP has a larger seating area and the mini bar with the booze bottles is a nice touch. However we didn't like the time slot reservations at the same table and need to book in advance. SC is more relaxed but you are pampered more. Rooms overall are both very nice. SC has the whirlpool but it is regular tub size vs. RP without a whirlpool. SC is smaller than RP = less people (especially until all rooms are completed). Beach at SC and RP are both nice. SC has only the one resort next door so quiet stolls are nice. No wrist bracelet is nice at SC. 24 hour room service that works at SC is very nice. RP being able to visit and eat at other Rius nearby is nice. RP having other hotel to stroll by is nice, and shopping nearby is also nice if that is what you enjoy. RP is within walking distance to PDC ... if that is a high priority. Again, both are VG, just a bit different in approach and nearby attractions. Depends what you like and are looking for.... We enjoyed both for different reasons and at different times. At SC we wanted the R&R with no need to visit anything else, and wanted to be pampered. This was our 6th time at PDC area so didn't feel the need to leave the SC property other than walks on the beach and sailing. Hope this helps??? |
