Clothes to bring, especially for New Year's Eve

Just discovered this site. It's terrific!! We just booked to stay at the Flamenco Xcaret over New Year's and would really appreciate some advice as to clothing. It's been a while since our last visit to an AI (have been on several cruises) and we don't want to over dress, but do wonder about New Years's eve. I really appreciate any advice. Thanks!!!

For New Year's eve, would my hubby need a jacket or would just dress pants and long sleeve shirt be acceptable? Also what is the normal weather for that time of year, as I have read that it can be very cool in the evening. Thanks again, and I apologize in advance if my questions have already been covered in previous post--I was unable to find anything when "searching".

Whether or not your hubby would need a jacket for New Year's Eve would depend on what the hotel has planned for that night.
Are they having a dressy dinner in the ala carte restaurants? Is it business as usual in the buffets? Is there some kind of special event that will go on right before midnight?
Since I don't have the answers to this, not sure anyone else will either, your best bet would be to e mail the hotel directly and ask what kind of activities they will be having on NYE and what your dining options will be.
Try this e mail addy:
info@xcaret.com
Or you can call the hotel directly and speak to the front desk manager:
+52(984)871 5400

Normal dinner wear would be neat casual. Nice shorts and a polo shirt or otherwise for hubby. Sundress, capri's, linen pants (or whatever) for you. Just no jeans, tank tops, shirt shorts...unless you WANT to feel out of place.
When you eat in the ala carte restaurants, hubby will have to wear pants.

The weather for that time of year can definately be cool, especially at night. You'll want to make sure you pack some kind of jacket. Daytime temps. should be in the mid 70's to mid 80's, unless they get a cold snap. They just had one and the high last weekend was 68 degrees! But it's back to normal now.
The pools will be chilly willy too, but the ocean should be nice and comfy.

Okee dokee? :P

68degrees last weekend???
We were in pdc at the Riu Palace on Saturday and it was very hot and expect it was in high 80's at least. Sunday when we left the resort at noon to come home was also very comfortable and probably in very high 70's or low 80's.

Just read James' post about 68F last Saturday Shammy but that was at midnight. That would be the low for the day not the high. I'd believe that temp because when we were outside in the courtyard dancing at 11:30 pm it was definately on the cool side.
Bob (-20Celcius here yesterday, not as bad as Manitoba or Saskatchewan though)

Oops! My bad!
Meant to say low temp. Either way, that's perrrrty darn chilly.
As long as the daytime stays nice and toasty, that's all that matters.
A.L. (30 F now but 60 F yesterday...a regular heat wave in NJ)

Hi Shammy. Thanks so much for the info. I had actually thought of emailing the hotel, but now will do so. And the clothes you suggested sounded just right for me, dressy casual! As for the weather, we had our first snow flurries today (outside Toronto) and so 68F for the evening sounds lovely. After cleaning off the car and searching for a parking spot at the mall today, lying in a lounge, sipping on some libation, sounds heavenly!
