Just a quick note that the kittens arrived safe and sound in Dallas on 8/13. We had Osa and Mapache and they were absolutely great! The only minute of panic we had was when the security staff asked us to take them out of the bags. We had been told not to take them out because they were so shy and might run away. After several attempts to convince the security staff, Mark and I each took a kitty through and they were fine. Actaully they were ready to get back into the carrier as they weren't too comfortable being out with strangers. They didn't make a peep on the flight except a little on take off and landing. We kept them under the seat so the engine noise and vibration must have been soothing. We met Rob in Dallas and he took them to their new home. Glad we could help with such a worthy cause. Keep up the good work!

I just wanted to report on Romeo, Julieta, Osa, and Mapache's trip to Dallas. On August 13th Cryss picked up my husband, me (Brenda), our dog Daisy, and Romeo and Julieta at our apartment. She already had Osa and Mapache loaded up. So off we go to the airport. We meet up with the other couple who are escorting Osa and Mapache. Did I mention that we are all on the same American Airlines flight to Dallas. We all get checked in and make it through security. The American Airlines people were very nice to work with. It was just no big deal at all. Then we board the plane with all these cats and one dog. All the passengers on the plane were very interested and excited how these cats were rescued and now were going to Dallas to live. We all got settled in and under our seats. Julieta, Daisy (our dog), Osa, and Mapache all went to sleep, but Romeo didn't. He started his very loud and very long meows. This went on for about 30 minutes until I finally put the carrier in my lap, unzipped it, and stuck my arm in so I could pet him. It was comforting for both of us. Then we landed, got our luggage, got the animals cleared through customs, went out the door, and Rob was standing there with his "KITTENS" sign. Then the other couple came bringing Osa and Mapache who were both still asleep. They had a connecting flight, so they couldn't talk for very long. But my husband and I stayed and talked for awhile. Rob is just the best. He told us about where the cats would be staying and all about the adoption process. Then it was time for me to hand over Romeo and Julieta. They had been my babies for two months. Rob put them in his carrier and they calmly laid down and looked very content and comfortable. That made me feel better. Rob left with two carriers full of kittens and a bag I packed for Romeo and Juliet with their bed and toys and food.
If anyone gets the opportunity to foster some kittens, you should do it. You have to get at least two though. Romeo and Julieta were just non-stop fun. Just when I thought they were as cute as they could get, they would do something even cuter. I was so glad that we got to take them and deliver them to Rob in Dallas. We really wanted to bring them home with us, but we have three rescued cats that our son had been taking care of while we were gone. It was hard to let Romeo and Julieta go, but now they are big city Dallas cats and I think they will have a happy ending. |

Brenda thankyou so much for sharing this with us!!! I know how hard it is to give up kittens that you have fostered and given so much love to for so long and at the same time it is so rewarding and so worth while! Every time a kitten gets adopted i feel sad and happy all at the same time!
Thankyou so much for fostering these 2 kittens for Coco`s cat rescue you helped us in a time where we were so full up with kittens i have no idea what we would have done without your help! Rob is amazing! They are definatly in good hands! I will let you know when they get adopted! I really hope you can foster again next time you are down in Playa! Thankyou so so much Brenda! ![]() Laura |
