Riu Yucatan Advice

We will be going to the Riu Yucatan early in the new year and would REALLY appreciate any tips.

We will be travelling with 4 children (ages 4-9). Can anyone tell us what to expect from the kids club? What age groups is it most suited for? What are the hours?
Getting a bit worried that the pools will be icy cold!

Any and all info greatly appreciated. We are SOOOO excited about this trip.
