AAA - Ever had to use their services?

I did. Tonight on the way home from work.

Stopped at Stop & Shop. Gonna run in and grab a few things and be on my way in 10 minutes.

Took the keys out of the ignition, put them in my pocketbook on the passenger seat, and then being the good green person I attempt to be, tried to reach into the back seat to get my green bags (reusable shopping bags). Couldn't reach them, so I got out, opened the back door, hit the lock on the front door, shut it, got the bags out, and shut the back door.

Then "Oh, sh*t!"

There I am, with nothing but two Shaw's Supermarket green bags in my hand, looking at my locked car, all windows rolled up, with my pocketbook containing my keys, wallet, cell phone (i.e. MY LIFE) inside. And no, I don't have a Hide-A-Key on this car. Tried to do it after I bought it, but the extra key wouldn't fit in the little magnetic thingy, so I just never pursued any other options.

Yeah... I was lucky. Temps were mid-60's, no rain, and I was standing outside a busy supermarket at 5:30 on a Wednesday. Customer service at the market was very nice, and when I gave her a "yeah, right " expression when she asked me if I knew the phone number for AAA, a stranger next to me pulled out her AAA card and gave her the number (nice lady!) AAA was there is exactly 30 minutes to break into my car and didn't even make me show him my AAA card! (It was rather unsettling to see how easily he broke into my car. Took him all of maybe 45 seconds?!)

The last time I used AAA, I locked my keys in the car (same car) the day before David and I were to leave for Playa. We were having our "run errands and stop for lunch and drinks" afternoon when I did it. That time I was literally 50 feet from a AAA branch office!!

Glad they were able to help you so fast!

We have CAA, up here.

We are not members, though, we're too cheap ....although we each have spare keys to the others' car, and I have had to go and unlock Don's truck three times in the past five or so years....he has a little problem.

Have used AAA for a tow and they rock. Worth every penny we pay for them. No hassle , no bullshit they just show up and do what hey say they will.

Yes it is, doesn't have to be your car either. Had my daughters car towed to my house once.

Nerak, I thought your story sounded familiar. Wasn't the first time when you re-started smoking? We have to change your name to "Crazy, I'm going to single handedly bankrupt AAA chica"

PS, I love the new avatar, is that the black cat who keeps crossing your path?

Yep. I was all drunk at a bar and couldn't drive home. I didn't want to leave my car in this area overnight. I called AAA and said my car needed a tow. Free ride home for me and my car!

HA! That's a great story! But it's not mine. I IS however a story told by a guy I know. (Leaving myself open for a jab on the company I keep I know.)

For real though, I was with a friend who's battery died. Great help by AAA.

The ex locked the dog in the car (while running with the AC on full blast). Bailey was totally oblivious to my state of panic and slept through the entire event, but I was very grateful that the truck was there in about 10 minutes.

We were told by a AAA tow truck driver once that he had this one guy call him once every year after going to Foxwoods or some other casino in Connecticut and partying most of the night, and need a ride and a tow home back to Massachusetts.

Gotta have AAA when you drive old clunkers like we do! (Just bought an "almost new" 2002 VW Passat after my 1989 Mercedes 260e finally kicked the bucket! ) We've had many a tow and jump start from AAA.

I have AARP cause I am old.

It is from GM Motor Club Plan

I only use batteries for stuff like pacemakers, hearing aids and erection encouragers

What the heck is that last thing, does anyone know?

Yep.

Flying down the freeway in my '73 Hurst with a 'Vette on my ass. Fan blade broke and went through my radiator hose. I kind of felt bad for that 'Vette, I hope that coolant cleaned off his windshield okay.

Flying down the freeway in my Denali, sun in my eyes. Couldn't see the idiot lights or gauges. Yep, ran out of water and broke the motor. Same damn freeway.

Parked in front of the house in my Denali, locked my keys in it. No spare. They broke in real quick.

Dead battery, car's in the garage, no way to go get another battery. I called AAA, they actually have a battery truck! The correct battery was found but the guy couldn't figure out how to secure it, I had to help him!
