Well that's why you have to go twice a year like we do
I want to update my countdown ticker but I forget how to do it

I know!! We were doing that for a while, and then started doing the longer stays, so we had to decide. Now that it's only October, I'm thinking that May is forever away!!

I think there was a thread on this before? I'm not sure...do you click back onto the existing countdown?

Yeah my hubby and I used to spend 2 weeks in PV every Feb/March then we got turned on to Play del Carmen and started doing two weeks there. About 3 years ago we decided hey you know what we work all year and one vacation just isn’t enough but we can’t really afford two. Then we found really cheap deals in PV in October for like $750.00 tax included for an all inclusive so we jumped on that band wagon and never looked back since. The Fall in Mexico is a great way for us to prepare for the winter months too and because this trip is so cheap we can still afford to go to Playa in the Spring and enjoy all that it has to offer. I love the Spanish authenticity that PV has to offer and it’s way cheaper there than Playa too.

That's what I love about PV--the authenticity. I feel like the people are so much nicer too. That is a cheap deal!!! Do you stay at the same place every year?
We found that the Luna Blue is super cheap and is very nice. Plus walking all over 5th ave is great.

In PV we stayed at the Royal Decameron like 7 times already because it’s cheap and just a walk away from Bucerias which we really love. The past couple of times now we stay in smaller resorts closer to town.

As for Playa Del Carmen we usually stay at different resorts although last year we snagged a really good deal at the Riu Tequila which was about a 25 minute walk to 5th ave. It was a fabulous resort and the food was spectacular!!!! Also the deal there is you stay at one and play at three so we also had access to the 2 other Riu’s across the street. Actually I wouldn’t mind going back there again.

You’re pretty much guaranteed sun in PV in October, and your right, the people are awesome. It’s also more of a Spanish culture there. We’re staying at a cheap AI in town Las Palmas by the Sea. It’s as cheap as a hotel this time of year and we’re in town, so we’re off the resort almost every day.

I stayed at Las Palmas with my first husband on my first trip ever to Mexico, wayyy back in the mid nineties.

Then my second husband and I went to the Pelicanos (which is next door to Las Palmas) on our first PV trip together. Funny!

We just noticed there is a super deal to the Decameron de los Cocos up in Rincon de Guayabitos at xmas week from Saskatoon for only about $1200 AI each....we might have to finally go check out Rincon.

We can't WAIT to get back there! We stayed at the RIU Vallarta, which was nice. It is true that the water doesn't appear to be as blue, and the sand isn't white, but the people are SO nice, and the weather was great! Sadly, we won't be able to go back for at least another 7 months or so, but we're already counting down the days! More than likely, we won't go AI again in that area. The smaller towns just seemed SO much more laid back. **Sigh**
These pictures bring back the BEST memories, I'm ready to go again!

Jess great pics...Nice memories you made..

Puerto Vallarta is very special .. The people are wonderful... Love the Bay..mountains and sunsets.. There are many great places to go and have drinks and a bite to eat all while taking in the wonderful views of The Bay..mountains Ocean and sunsets..

Buceria beach area is one of my fav's ..When you go again check out Sandrina's... Sandrinas

Mouse enjoy your vacation...
What Las Palmas lacks in amenities it make up for in spirit..
From the times we have spent at Las Palmas and in PV we have made life long friends... (From England ..Ontario.. Sask. Alberta and in Puerto Vallarta)Our LP dinner table seemed to grow larger and larger every evening we were there..

Las Plamas has a special place in our hearts...We went through Hurricane Kenna in the Resort..
Hurricane Kenna Puerto Vallarta 2002 pictures by catnhat1102 - Photobucket

We returned to PV and stayed at a different resort but best was returning and staying at the LP.. Although the Resort is not quite the same as pre Kenna it was still nice...

We are hoping to one day soon have again a Las Palmas Hurricane reunion with folks we met at that time ..

Andales and the gang are fun... Alice who is Alice..

Well this is it only two days left and I’ll be in sunny Puerto Vallarta yippie!!!! Our flight leaves at 6:00AM and arrives in PV at 12:30 (PV time that is as there is a 2 hour difference from Vancouver) I’m thinking by about 2:30PM I should be on the beach feeling the waves crash against my legs while sipping on a margarita. Sipping? Who am I kidding I’ll be downing “margaritas”. Heck yeah with the heat they’re having I should be in my very happy state by 4:00 ay ya ya ya.

Catnhat, looks like you enjoyed Andale's bar. Jorge (George) sure has a gold mine in that place. I'm shifting over to Playa for this winter so I will miss out hearing the Andales unofficial theme song "Who the is Alice" three times a night. Did you ride the burro through the bar?

I think that the newest of the restaurants owned by Si Senor and The Blue Shrimp may be down that way. I can't remember what they were going to name it.
