Anyway, today I went to HD and made the decision to return all cabinets. It wasn't easy to do since they're here, and I spent MONTHS making my choices and nailing down everything I wanted, but as my mother said, that wasn't a good enough reason to keep sub standard merchandise...will get a full refund, no restocking fee (according to the KD), and will be looking at custom made instead.

On a positive note. I've lined up a good electrician, good tilesetter, and have a possible plumber and drywall person coming out tomorrow to see what I need done. We also saw the work of a cabinet maker over the weekend, and were impressed. Will be trying my hand at being my own GC, so I have no one to fire or cuss out but myself
Great decision. Our cabinets are installed, but the countertop is not on yet or the sink, etc....
I will post a picture of the complete assembly when it is done. I thought it would be done by now, but as you know better than anyone, there are more delays than I can believe.
I think you will be much happier with custom made cabinets. We are.
