Why is it called Wicky's?

Are Cantex partners or are you renting/bought the place?

... and why have you got an inch mark instead of a proper apostrophe?
Damn those designer's who don't know/use their typo, grammar, widows, em rules, and ligatures...

Spelling error, maybe. I'm not sure.

Did You Know: "Wickie" is a nickname often associated with lighthouse
keepers because one of their jobs was to trim the wick on the lighthouse
lamp so it wouldn't smoke and create a sooty film on the lighthouse lens.
You'll never have to worry about soot on a Wickie Lamp!

Hmm, nah. Ever since we got DTP and properly trained typographer's were cut out of the loop, things went downhill. Colleges don't train the designers well enough. I had a freelancer who described herself as a creative typographer - she didn't even know the basics. I could go on... and on....

I didn't know that. Interesting. I had to laugh when I saw it described on a website as 'the only privately owned official operating lighthouse in the world'. I've stayed at two private ones in the UK for starters. Also to my mind, nice a landmark as it is, it's more a folly than a lighthouse.

Wicky's

Wow, the place looks like it is going to be very nice. I wish that I could be there for the opening. I like the entire concept of a beach club that offers nice amenities and has good food, plus, a high-end dinner option. Congratulations!

Here is the website: Wickys, Playa Del Carmen

Wicky's Ownership

Wicky's is privately owned by Playa Developement, LLC, of Denver Colorado. The restaurant and beach club concessions were purchased from Cantax Enterprises to service guests of El Faro Residences. However, Wicky's Restaurant is open to the public and will open on September, 18, 2009 servicing lunch from 11-5, dinner from 6-11pm and the beach club hours are 10am-6pm; and will also host meetings in the private dining room, weddings and special events.

Where did Wicky's name come from?

As the restaurant is located at the base of the El Faro Lighthouse in Playa, the owners named the restaurant "Wicky's" after the name of lighthouse keepers who trimmed the "wicks" of the kerosene lamps to provide the light in the lighthouse

Our lighthouse logo, which may be hard to see the shadow, but the apostrophe serves as the light in the lighthouse;

We are soo excited we are opening! The tastes have been tremendous!!

Good Luck with the Grand Opening. I know that you have a lot invested in the project. Let us hope that the tourists flock back to Playa soon.

Aha, I can see it now, thanks. Hmm, I would have drawn the wick with a flame flicker to make the idea clearer. (I'm a creative director - graphics and interiors).

Good luck with the opening! It's all looking very smart. I've been watching things progress as we've got clients at El Faro for our interior design/decorating work.

BTW, we also have the deal to put our SunProject roller shades in the apartments. You can see them in the ground floor showroom by the beach opposite you. If you need any or want yours to match (which is supposed to be the rule for the condos) please send me a PM.
