Help 2 three legged doggies get to New Hampshire
Ok I am turning here as I am having no luck on Cozumel travel related blogs we are in not slow season, but more like: DEAD season. Andy and Jen if somebody can help, will you give us a ride to Cancun airport? Freak you will fall in love with these two honeys! I will pay for gas and lunch!
Andrea Coz HS Introducing: Chona and Citri. Chona was hit by a speeding truck on Ave 65 witnessed by many citizens who called the Humane Society to help. Volunteers and vets attended the scene and brought Chona back to the Humane Society. Our vet Dr Marcelo Garcia with a keen interest in orthopedics tried very hard to rehabilitate Chona from her brachial plexus injury she suffered to her right front leg. She never did regain the use of the leg and drag it around. She had no feeling in the paw and puppies often played with her paw like it was a toy. She eventually had to be amputated. Citri fell from the truck of her owners. Barely 3 months old, her owners rushed her into the clinic. They asked everything to be done to save her life and then they abandoned her at the shelter. Citri was treated for shock and an emergency amputation was performed. She is a playful pup and has no idea that she has any limitation and she does not. She has come on our pet parade on Sunday nights and she never tires and is the leader of the pack! These two love to play together and they are really funny to watch. Both dogs are extremely loving and playful. Well the good news is, our good friend and kennel sponsor Mark Grenier has a home for both in New Hampshire. Mark has taken many Cozumel dogs back with him and one is a 3 legged dog named Pi. Mark loves tripods! We are looking to get these dogs up to Boston or any other airport that will bring them near New Hampshire. American Airlines is the preferred airline to get them there, also Mexicana, United or any airline that will take underneath (forget Continental.....cargo charges). US Airways will not work as they only take under the seat. Mark is willing to drive up to 300 miles to pick them up. Please let us know if you can help or if you know of anybody who can help escort these lovely dogs. We will do everything: papers, bring to airport, help them get checked in and stay with you until they are boarded onto the plane. It is so easy to be an escort and you are truly helping save a dog's life by doing so. Last edited by south beach gir; 09-28-2009 at 09:53 PM.. |

I will keep Nov 7 in mind thank you, would like them to go sooner. Anna how far of a drive would that be for Mark from NH to Chicago? I am Canadian originally and have a tough time with some US geography...looking at maps in this area always makes me think things are closer than they are.
Mexicana would be a great option as the price is great! Delta will do it, but they are definitely more pricey. Also, with Mexicana I have a good friend I only have to email and she will register the dogs to an itinerary. Let me know about the distance. We also have a sponsor that lives in Chicago and maybe she can help in some way. Thanks everybody. They are both so lovely these dogs. And they both have homes! 3 legged dogs very hard to get adopted here. Andrea |

Wow that is a long way! Thanks for looking into this. Let see if anybody on Chicago side could help them get halfway there. I have contacted a few animal loving friends up there to see if they can help. Or if you know of anybody in Chicago who could receive and meet half way or something, but geez that does sound really far!
I met that handsome Max tripod guy, he has been at Peanut a long time? Andrea |

Before I commit to anything I would like some more information regarding the logistics of this operation. We (my wife and I) will be flying into Bradley Itnl. airport on Oct. 28th on American. We are 15 minutes from the Mass border and Approx. 2 hrs from NH.
Send me a PM regarding this. Roger |

Humane Society of Cozumel will provide the paper work, kennels, we will pay and bring dogs to the airport, help you check in, clear them through security. Upon entering the US, you clear immigration, pick up your bags, grab some trolleys but dogs and kennels on top and roll on through, if you are connecting customs will take your bags and you will pop into the agriculture office usually right there, in Dallas it is. They look at the papers, if there is time, sometimes you can take the dogs out, if not they send the dogs onward to the next plane. Mark Grenier our kennel sponsor and HUGE dog lover will be waiting at the airport to pick up the dogs.
We have sent approx 140 northward over the last year and a half to new homes in Canada and the US, many by escorts. All our organizations need escorts: Us, Peanut, Coco's cat rescue, Save a Sato in Puerto Rico, Cabo San Lucas Humane Society. It is very easy to do so and you are truly helping save a life. I may have a volunteer via Trip Advisor Cozumel, they have not committed yet and have not told me what date they are coming, but I would like to keep you in mind if willing to do so. Maybe we could get Mark to work on getting Max from peanut a home. Mark has a passion for 3 legged dogs and he has one already from Cozumel named Pi. Thank you for thinking of helping us, you sound like a very good option! Andrea |
