Joanie, have you read Seakony's trip report on the 'In the Roo'-website? She was in Rome and Surroundings as well...
Rita in Italy I am sure she will answer any questions you might have about travelling in Italy. Btw. when exactly are you going? If it's in February you might catch some carnival... ![]() Andrea |

Not too far from Rome are 2 beautiful places, Tarquinia and Tuscania....great food and amazing Etruscan catacombs
Tuscania & Etruscans Tour I think they organize day trips from Rome if you don't have a car/don't want to drive. Italy is so small and so full of beautiful places, I couldn't even start giving you tips! ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() p.s. one of the mornings we were having breakfast in piazza navona, the guy sitting next to us asked me a cigarette and ended up giving us his card. at € 297,50 per night (this is a "Special Offer" rate) we won't be staying there! But thanks for the link! Mike and I will be staying at the more affordable (€ 100,00), and very well rated B&B, LA CASA DI AMY which is centrally located, being just a couple of blocks from the main Termini train station, and within walking distance of all the sights Rome has to offer.

I don't know how I missed this before...Driving Old Route 66 is on my bucket list. We are planning this as soon as I retire.
Anna, did you finish the trip report with pics or did I miss it? BTW, Italy was always one of my favorite places to visit in my AF flying days. I used to fly into Aviano whenever I could. There was an awesome little hotel (what we would call a bed and breakfast really) in Pordenone. I also enjoyed Sicily...I used to fly into Sigonella quite often. They always put us up at the Jolly Hotel...I met James Brown there. |

I'm ashamed to say it: I never wrote a trip report...had promised myself I'd do it, with pics and all ( I have SO many pics of the mother road, and of the many vintage places..)
I WILL DO IT I PROMISE. ![]() [quote=horizon200;1471666]I don't know how I missed this before...Driving Old Route 66 is on my bucket list. We are planning this as soon as I retire. Anna, did you finish the trip report with pics or did I miss it? |
