I guess she doesn't like LA much.

One thing I was reminded all along this trip ( looks like I had forgotten) is how KIND all people are in the US. men opening doors for me ( REALLY ALWAYS), people trying to help when you ask directions, the waiters...everyone. I am in awe of this country and its people, and I'm not trying to be kind ( you know how I spit the truth when I feel I have to say the truth...). I think I'll try harder to be kinder with foreigners vacationing in Playa, its something we tend to forget, that these people don't know the place and need advice...
having said this....I STILL HATE LA!
ALWAYS DI.
ALWAYS WILL.

Well that is really sweet...but don't over-generalize about us too much though...we tend to really like hot Italian women so your experience might not be the same for everyone.

jack, she is so right! try being a tourist in our hometown, Milan..the land of the freezing cold cold cold people.....that's what I've always been told anyway. And try being a toruist in France.....especially Paris.... and getting the wrong accent after studying bloody french for 15 years.....brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr cold cold cold!!!!!!!!!!! People in the USA are really really nice, believe me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I too love vacationing in your country, I always feel very welcome indeed (except Miami but THAT'S NOT THE US!!!!!!) everywhere, from super hotels and restaurants to very humble places and THAT says a lot (to me).

Had a lovely dinner with bees, Heather ( Feather) and Hugh last night at an Indian restaurant in Venice. very yummy and it was SOP nice to see them again!
'Tis time for my flight to Mexico City today ( dreaded plane leaves at 1.20pm...). I'll let you know when and IF I get into Mexico, tonight...
I'm sad its over...

I would hate LA too- I am not a big fan of huge smoggy cities!

But I totally agree about vacationing in the US...from the servers to the hotel staff, retail staff to just people on the street- they are VERY friendly, in my experience too.

Travel home safely!

I know what you mean about Paris.. But the people in the French countryside seem so much nicer..perhaps it is a bigger-city thing (in certain big cities) ?

I haven't yet been to Italy...but soon...Tuscany and Firenze, Roma and Napoli..and maybe even the cold of the northern Milano someday? It can't be all bad if you and Anna are from there.

Jack, when you do go to italy, please don't tell me you're doing the classic tourist trap tour...firenze (totally over-rated IMO), disney-chianti, venice, rome....then back home please let me give you a few more hints to lovely not so crowded places you'd love so much more
p.s. milano is very beautiful, but shy. you have to have patience to know her and discover her hidden beauties - not like rome, totally brazen

Not to worry..I don't do countries like that....when we last went to Germany, we spent 16 days staying in small villages in Bavaria and later, along the Mosul river(great wines!).....I love the beauty of small older villages and the countryside markets, bistros and bars.

Venice scares me due to the crowds...but I do like visiting the larger cities too (like Paris ( Montmarte) and Madrid (Plaza Mayor), Lisboa ).....but only if I can stay for 4 or 5 days at least..and only if we stay in interesting little hotels in the heart of the older sections of the city....I like shy...and I like brazen! What I dislike is the middle of the road experiences....

I would NEVER visit Italy without asking for your advice though..you can count on that...thanks!

You are the perfect traveler to me then . I too love the countyside (check out my alsace album on fb) AND the big cities. I love Paris, Rome, NYC...I'd move to any of these anytime. But only if I could also have a small cottage in the countryside.
Venezia....it's a must. I remember the last time I went I got off the train, walked a few metres and BAM, on the canal! Felt like I was in a movie. Maybe you can programme to NOT go during the film festival, carnival or the LEGA Lombarda meeting It's beautiful in any season, although it can get a tad humid in the winter .
AWWWWWW NOW I WANT TO TRAVEL TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
