Crossing the border in Brownsville?

My husband and I are crossing the border in Brownsville to make a road trip to Puerto Aventuras in a few weeks. We have really enjoyed reading the many posts regarding the roadtrips that all of you have made and are especially appreciative of the information and suggestions contained within. We are wondering what is the earliest that you can expect all the officials, etc. to be open and ready to process a car entering the country? When I called the offices, I was told that they are open 24/7 but have read in these posts that some have had to wait for offices to open. Thanks in advance for your help!

We had intended to use the Veterans International Bridge because we have really good directions from a previous post as to where to go and in what order and the post even included photos of the exit signs, etc. When you say "never had a prob there", what type of problem are you referring to? Is the Los Indios Free Trade Bridge less crowded than the others? Other than not going through Matamoros, are there other benefits to using this bridge?

other than not going thru matamoros???
for me, that is plenty
plus at los indios it is just sooooooo smooth and easy

don't worry, in the end all roads lead to playa
if i never drive thru matamoros again, it will be too soon!!!!!

I crossed at 6:30 at night, I got done with customs at 9...I had no title to my car but got in finally...If I would have had a title it would have been 20 minutes!

Did I understand this correctly? You crossed at the Veterans Bridge at 6:30pm? I guess you found the Banjercito open if you had to get a sticker for your car. Was this recently? Did you go in with an FM3 or an FMT? I don't mean to sound stupid but your crossing at that hour is new info and doesn't match what we've been told up to this point. Even the website lists their hours as M - F 9 to 4. I find it to be good news!

The problem is that we have applied for the sticker for the car already online. We listed our port of entry as Matamoros. Does this force us to enter at that port or is there any flexibility in that? (I am chuckling as I write this question.) I expect the answer to this to be - This is Mexico, who knows? Maybe or maybe not.

I'm planning to cross into mexico via Nuevo Progreso. What are the hours of their crossing. I am going to apply for the car permit online in advance, so I have one less thing to worry about when crossing into Mexico. On the return, where in/near the Nuevo Progreso border crossing would you give up your permiso?

I wish I knew the hours, I was just down there last October to get some dental work done. I can tell you that we left about 5:30 pm and we were probably the last people in town leaving to head back across. Best thing about that crossing is that it is probably the last safe crossing into Mexico, I never ventured farther than I had to.

About 2-4 months after I got back, I read where a person from Dallas crossed into Matamoros to get dental work done and never was seen again.

Dallas area man goes missing after seeking dental work in Mexico : News : ValleyCentral.com

Be safe my friend where ever you cross.
