Exchange Rate on the Street
I have been to Playa before but never compared the rates you see on currency converter websites and what is available on the street. I have noticed big lines at banks in Playa. Also when I have gone in their computer seems to be down or some other reason why they cannot exchange money. Which is the better deal: banks or exchange houses?
This morning the currency converters are calling for 11.21 pesos to the dollar. What is the range of street rates today? Thanks. Woowie 22 |

I think the distilled essence of most money posts supports the use of the many ATMs.
Otherwise the exchange shops all over are handy so your bankline fears shouldn't be a concern. (I haven't really noticed that to be a problem, BTW). I think I saw 11.2 at one place on the avenue last night but I wasn't paying much attention. Even a .2 difference is only 2 bucks over 100 changed, so it's not much of an impact.
