I hope it is ok I post this link here.. really good view of work being done at the Gran Porto on their webcam. Not a good day to be on the beach at this resort.. wonder if guests are allowed to use the Royal's beach while this is going on?

First off, had a few technical difficulties the other day, so here´s the correct link for that previous photo from Saturday morning, when work began:

Now here are 3 more from this morning, for what they´re worth:

Photos from today. Monday 11 January

Looks to me like they are building a coffer dam from the existing sand and will pump the new sand into it and let the water settle out. Time will tell. Still no sign of a barge with sand or the pipe line being set up yet.

Hey, those are iPhone shots!

Here are a couple more from this morning, showing the new and impressive ridge of sand, 12-15 feet high, in some parts.

This answer your question about where I am right now, jtm?

Thanks Steve for the pictures. With your pictures and the webcam views we can get a really good view of whats going on. Very interesting process taking place to say the least, anxious to see what it looks like when finished and how it all holds up over time. Thanks again.

I was thinkin if someone could post a pic of the beaches in playa, in that area they are working FROM BEFORE the hurricane hit. Just so we can compare is all , it would be nice. Like the same yr or a few yrs before the big wind. Just a thought , thanks.

Uh, Steve, I've gotta side with jtm on this one. If you want to make a phone call, Apple is an okay choice. If you want to take a picture, I'd suggest Canon.

Wow! Will Playa Maya be installing ropes so we can rappel down to the water when we need a dip to cool off?

No! They moved the Gran Porto webcam, it now over looks the pool and I can't see the progress being made! It has been fun watching the past few days.
